The ink problem is not isolated to your sense.
Do a quick internet search and you’ll find tattoos will limit the performance of a smart watch sensor.

Hi, @POGZY, the newer devices have a different HR sensing array than the Blaze and Ionic. The tattoo issue has been noted in these help threads for at least two years. The problem is the LED/sensor depends on detecting the change in the colour of the skin layer which is inked in a tattoo.
Scarring has the same effect.
Cheers

I too have been disappointed by the Sense and Fitbit. I got the Sense last Mother's Day and in the year it was replaced twice and now it has died again and they are telling me it is out of warranty and all they can do is offer discount on a new one. I am so disappointed.

Hi @suszy - in what way is it dead? Often due to a charge cable fault people think the watch is dead.
So just in case before giving up on your watch check the various issues in How to check charge cable - Sense/Versa 3 won't charge, won't start or blank screen
