Screen Detached

I just looked down and my Sense screen is hanging off the tracker. It is still connected with an electronic wire connection and still works. I pushed it back in place, but it came away again. This is without doing anything active, which will cause more detachments.

I don't want to reach for the glue pot straightaway, before asking for feedback.

Anyone experienced such an issue?

I purchased a screen protector from Amazon (~$10 for a set of 4). I only received them yesterday, so I cannot yet give a long-term review. However, one of then slipped on easily and now keeps the screen in place. I assume it is no longer waterproof, but for my purposes this is OK. It is better than my temporary fix (tape), better than glue (messy), and better than shelling out another $250+.

One thing I have noticed since the screen detached is that with the temporary fix (tape) and the new screen protector, the battery seems to rundown much more quickly now.

Hi @SFOTyke - good to ask for advice. I am currently waiting for a protective strap.

This allows you to insert the pebble (watch without strap) into it and it could hold the screen in place.

With or without glue it may not be fully waterproof, it obviously wasn't before, if the face came off!

Of course if it is still under warranty it can be replaced but that can be tedious if you have to send the watch back and can take weeks.

My Fitbit is in the same boat… I looked down and the screen is hanging off… what can be done about this??

This just happened to me as well - my Fitbit is 15 months old. I can’t use it at the moment as it clicks back into place but doesn’t stay there. Can I just use glue?

Best Answer

You can use glue but not any kind of glue, something like b-7000 can work, but even then you would have to hold it with some sort of clip for a few hours

UPDATE: I cannot use the ECG App with this new screen protector, as it covers the metal sensors. However, the screen protector easily slips on-and-off, if you need to use this App. Alternatively, check out other screen protectors on Amazon, which may not have this issue.

Just an update on the battery life. I would normally be able to go at least three days without having to charge the tracker. However, since the face spontaneously detached and I have kept it in place with a screen protector, I now have to charge every morning. Even without anything strenuous, the battery loses 50 and 60% of the charge in a day. I have no idea why this is happening. The screen protector does not keep the screen illuminated, so I do not know what is draining it.

I may just have to bite the bullet and go for the Sense 2, even though this is still somewhat usable.

@SFOTyke - if the screen has detached it means the seal wasn't good and that could have already let in moisture causing damage, which usually manifests itself as short battery life or even overheating on your wrist or when charging and if so stop immediately.

Before switching to a Sense 2 have a check in the forums on what features you lose that you have now and what others think.

Before buying a new Sense 2 I would suggest you trying to get a hold of their Support and ask them for a promo code, they might grant you one.

I had to return my Sense 2 because it was not reading my HR correctly, it wasn't a bad watch but it is stripped of 3rd party apps (which I did not need) and perhaps maybe others do read a better HR but mine was constantly showing "--" blank heart and then it would start reading it and go back to -- and I just didnt think that a new device should be giving me issues right out of the box so I ended up sending it back.

On the positive side, it did have google maps (turn by turn) it did have a better interface compared to sense 1 and it had nice widgets that you could scroll and see your stats in a chartlike manner.

It is a little bit thinner and lighter which makes it a more comfortable watch.

So to sum it up it is not a smart watch but a smart fitness tracker. I might go back and buy another one and give it a go in hopes that it will read my HR.
