I can see this isn't terribly unusual. Getting Fitbit to replace it through Chat was easy and I can't complain about that aspect of service.
However, I worry that it will happen again. I've seen one post where it happened 3 times, or maybe it was 4, in a year. If that happens to me, I wonder if Fitbit will decide I'm making it up. They haven't asked for the watch back, shall I send it to them anyway so that if it happens again I've evidence it happened to a replacement?
Also, any recommendations for a screen protector?
Thanks
Doug

Hi @DougWeller warranty information is here - click to read. The warranty is one year (USA) from the time of purchase of the original device, even when it's been replaced.

There are a lot to choose from.
Personally, I use the NANW TPU bumper and like it a lot. Got the 4 pack on Amazon Prime.

"...any recommendations for a screen protector?"
Bought 3 of these locally for mine and the wife's Sense. They work, and seem excellent. Check your eBay locally for them.
Tempered glass is preferable to a "film" or TPU protector, simply because it gives better blunt force protection.
