Sense battery life

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I can’t get my sense to last even 2 days on a charge even though I have turned off all gps, WiFi, and don’t have the always on display on. The long battery life was one of the biggest selling points for me as I could charge my ionic every 5 or so days and that was great. I don’t want to have a busy day and not be able to charge it and miss out on sleep data because it dies.

It's not good some watches are having such a bad battery life. I charged mine to 100% on Friday night (it's now Tuesday). I have logged one workout since. I don't use the spo2 watch face and turned off always on. I have notifications turned on but don't get too many. Right now my battery is at 46% so I can probably get another day 1/2 - 2 days out of it, which would almost be the 6 days.

I'm not sure if @Falen23 is by chance doing a lot of GPS enabled exercises as that eats away at battery life. Lift to wake can also result in the screen waking at a lot of unnecessary times which also eats up battery life. Beyond that if they aren't doing any GPS enabled workouts, AOD is off and the screen isn't constantly waking for no apparent reason then I'm not sure. You could go into Settings and do a Factory Reset then re-pair to your account and see if that addresses it. Could also uninstall Fitbit mobile app and reinstall when doing factory reset on the sense to see if that helps. If not then it might be time for a replacement.

Well, it looks like my Sense is good for 3 solid days on a full charge.  This is with all notifications ON, and with apps that run in the background on (Agenda, Weather), and the SPO2 clock face always running.  The only thing that is off is the Always On Display.

The Sense (for me) consumes about 25% a day, so theoretically, I could get 4 days before it hits 0%.  But I usually charge it at 20-25%.  So 3 days is realistic.

This is tolerable.  I know I could getting another day or two if I turn off some features and limit background apps, but I'm enjoying the full features.

I hope that Fitbit fixes the whole SPO2 clock face issue and makes this feature independent of the clock selection.  I have a feeling that the first new OS update will try to tackle the mediocre battery life, since the rest of the OS seems to be relatively bug free, so far.

Same here, no issue with battery life

As an update to my previous post, from 100% to 21% lasted 7 days, and as my sense only uses 10% per day I could have stretched it to 8. I have quick view off, a very simple stats face that is off unless I manually wake it and get lots of notifications on it throughout the day. I work out for 2 hours 6 days a week so it’s getting plenty of use that way, but I don’t use GPS.

Hi everyone. I'm glad to see you here in the forums and welcome to our new members.

Thanks for taking the time to report the battery short life issues experienced with your Sense watches. While the Sense should last 6+ days, the battery life will depend on how frequent its features are used. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't use them, but as with any other electronic device the features will impact its battery. If you're using the SpO2 Signature or an animated clock face, GPS or the Always-On Display function, you may have to charge your Sense more often. You can find tips to maximize the battery life in this help article.

If after taking this information into consideration the battery continues draining, please let me know so I can get you in touch with our Support team for further assistance.

@Vic33, thanks for sharing a screenshot of what is displayed in the User Manual. I'm sorry for the confusion this caused you and I'll escalate this to the proper team so they can correct it as soon as possible.

I'll be around, keep me posted.

Update!

i had already had all things turned off, gps, WiFi, deleted the majority of apps off of it, didn’t have anything running in the background or have an spo2 clock face and couldn’t even get 2 days off a full charge. However I ended up changing my clock face back to a very simple one that I had on the ionic. And now my last full charge was saturday afternoon I think...and today on Tuesday evening it’s at 55%. So success! I didn’t think the clock face I had before would eat up battery life as it was simple (not spo2) and just really had time, heart rate and steps...but had a blue background 🤷🏼‍:female_sign: I kind of wanted a cooler background but I’d rather have a longer battery life than a pretty clock face. Thanks guys!

How long is it taking to charge your Sense back to full?  I thought one of the new things was a fast charge to 100% in 15 minutes, but clearly I am misremembering.

Thanks, Lizzy!  That makes more sense and matches what I am seeing.  I put it on the charger when I shower and get ready, but mixed up "full charge" and "full day's charge".

Hi @FloppyDrive. I'm glad to see you here in the forums.

Thanks for letting me know that you're getting 3 days of battery with your Sense. As you may know, the SpO2 Signature clock face requires more frequent charging. I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused by having a short battery life when tracking your SpO2 values. Our team strives to continue improving the Fitbit experience, and your feedback will be taken into consideration to work on our products, services and overall environment.

If you have another question, let me know.

Do you have an Android phone and use the microphone message replies? That's lots of display on time and vibrations if you're getting messages all day long.

Has anyone figured out the battery drain issue? My battery doesn't even last 24 hours for me. I have yet to use it for a workout, turned off GPS on all exercise activities, have set for screen to wake up only when I manually turn on. This is crazy to last this short. Want to return it! Not worth the money!!

My Sense had great battery life up until about 3 days ago. I could get 4 days + our of it easily even with tracking activities daily. Now it barely lasts 48 hours.

I have had the Sense for about a week, but prior to that I was keeping a record of battery usage for my Versa 2 so I have continued doing that for the Sense.  With normal activities, and using the SpO2 clock face I am getting around 20% per day battery consumption, so around 5 days on a charge. Which is fine for me, and roughly what I was getting with the Versa 2.

The clock face is not always on of course, and screen delay is set to the default 10s.  From my Versa experience I expect I could do better if I turned the clock face off overnight.  And also from my Versa experience, setting the "Screen Timeout" delay to more than the default 10s can have quite an effect on battery life.   And another also, I don't get 20% if I use the GPS.  An hour's walking with the GPS on uses between 8 and 10%, which is consistent with the advice on GPS usage. But the 10% usage on the GPS is not a problem in any event because 10 or 15 minutes on the very convenient and efficient charger quickly tops it back up if necessary.

Hi @Nymanjm, welcome to the Community. @krispin and @CBV2, it's good to have you around.

@Nymanjm and @krispin, thanks for letting me know that your watches aren't holding charge. As mentioned above, there are different factors that impact the battery life of your Sense. To further investigate, may I know if you're using the SpO2 Signature or an animated clock face? Is the Always-On Display function turned on? I'd recommend to give a try to the tips described in this help article to maximize the battery life.

@CBV2, thanks for your sharing your experience with your Sense and your insights about the battery life. Your post is very helpful.

I look forward to your response.

I am running the Sp02 Signature face, but I have been running it since the beginning. I am not running the Always-On function
