Sense device too sensitive for sleep trackng

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Sense detects time I am in bed, awake, but fairly still such as reading as my being asleep. It does this pretty much every day and way more people French than any of my previous Fitbit devices. It is already set to normal sensitivity. This makes the data for retry useless and is one of the main reasons I have the device. Can something be done to make it less sensitive?

Hi, @laureldj, welcome, you will see in this article How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device? there is a section on sensitivity settings. I hope this is helpful.

Cheers

I do wish you could read my question again and then give an answer because with your experience on the forum, maybe you’re well equipped to answer.  I’m not trying to be rude but honestly it seems many people who have thousands of answers just look at the topic and then link to a very basic “how to” link without actually considering that it isn’t a basic question answered in the how to guide.

I’ll try to clarify.

Sense is WAY worse about recording sleep when you are actually awake than any of my many previous models. Because of this, just isn’t useful for recording sleep. Sadly, it will go back to Costco for a refund. I’m going back to my previous model. Unfortunately, I really liked a couple new features, but just not worth it when it gets sleep so wrong.

Mine sucks at tracking sleep, too. If I wake up at all, it stops. So in the morning I have like 3 or 4 chunks of an hour or two instead of my whole night. It's incredibly lame.

@laureldj Can you share a screenshot as to a sleep pattern that's way too sensitive? Also if you go into sleep stages, how off is it compared to the Benchmark?

I do a reasonable amount of tossing and turning so I'm "awake" usually around 50 minutes of 7 hours of sleep.

Hi, @laureldj, my intention was to draw your attention to the difference between the settings and the wider issues surrounding "Sleep" evaluation on your "Sense". Everyone's sleep pattern varies to some extent and it is inevitable that an algorithm is not 100%accurate all the time. The software in your "Sense" is of course different to that of your previous model and the Fitbit app has also moved on.

I hope you can resolve your problem.

Cheers
