The Sense does not allow you to download your own music. You have to sign up for a premium subscription that you don't need to listen to music you already paid for.

Hi @Michael323 - a solution is to use your own music on the phone and control it with the builtin watch Music controls - it doesn't give independence from the phone but you can play your own music. You can play Spottily music on you phone without a premium subscription, with a premium Spotify account you still cannot load music to your watch, so it's not necessary.

I don't want to have to carry my phone with me when I run. The Ionic allowed me to do that.
Now, when I run, I have to keep two pieces of equipment with me; watch and phone.
Just seems like we're going backwards!

@Michael323- see feature suggestions such as Add Music app to the Sense
If you can charge your old Ionic device which has music on board and is still working, you may be able to use it to play music while tracking with your new watch, no need for a phone. Put the device without strap in a pocket.
