Sense green and red lights are flickering

Earlier today, I was changing the watch bands when all of a sudden the sensors were flickering green and red. Also the heart rate stopped working. I had to restart the sense to get the heart rate to work. Is there a reason why the green and red light were flickering?

Hi @SunsetRunner. Welcome! It's good to see a new face around the forums.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for your efforts while restarting your Sense. Before anything else, let me explain that your watch heart rate sensor flashes green LEDs to detect your heart rate reading. On the other hand, the SpO2 sensor flashes red and infrared light to estimate how much oxygen is in your blood. Even if you're not wearing your watch, you might see these green or red lights when moving or touching your watch as the sensors will detect the movement and try to track your data.

This shouldn't affect the heart rate readings and because the restart helped to get your heart rate working, please keep an eye on your watch and don't hesitate to let me know if this happens again after changing the bands or doing a different activity.

I'll be around, keep me posted.

If spo2 data is only available when you're sleeping, why the red light keeps flickering during the day? Show the full day data or disable that sensor, it's wasting battery.

Hi @Rinopopo and @SunsetRunner. It's great to see you here in the forums.

@Rinopopo, thanks for stopping to share your feedback about the Sense. Please note that your watch will measure your SpO2 values and heart rate to give you a deeper insight about how you're doing. That's way the sensors have to be on in order for your watch to use these other functions. While the green and red lights won't affect the battery life, you may have to charge your watch more often when using the SpO2 Signature clock face.

@SunsetRunner, you're welcome and I'm glad my post was helpful to your inquiry. I hope you enjoy the experience with your new watch and let me invite you to visit the Health & Wellness board where you can find tips to achieve your fitness goals!

I have found that when the sensor is blinking red throughout the day, my heart rate is always way off. I think the O2 sensor is interfering with the monitoring of the heart rate.

The sense has a faulty heart rate monitor. Fitbit just refuse to admit it. Look around the sense forum and on Reddit. Plenty of people complaining.
