as I understand, the Sense, and the Versa's before it, measures floors climbed by measuring pressure changes.  To pick up the change in pressure caused by going up or down a floor it needs to be very, very, very sensitive.  So it also picks up other pressure changes such as those caused by winds, storm fronts and other weather effects, etc.  I take the floors climbed as an item of interest, sometimes amusing, but of no real value.  I'm guessing that at some stage in the past the Fitbit development team thought, hmm, floors climbed would be cute.  Perhaps they should have held that thought 🤔

My Fitbit sense over the last 2 months has had a WILDLY inaccurate floor count for my daily floors. I live in a 2 floor house, and like most people, I’ve barely left my home, yet somehow I climb 100 plus floors a day. I’ve reached out to Fitbit technical help before, I’ve tried resetting, restarting my sense. I’ve followed all of the canned, scripted advice. Apparently all I can do now is log “driving” as my activity to counteract the inaccurate floor count. I have to log that I’m driving for all hours I’m awake that I’m not exercising? What’s the point of this garbage device if I can’t even use it? Waste of money. Can anyone actually help me? Or did I throw $250 plus in the trash? Before I had a Versa for years that was great. Guess I should have bought that Apple Watch after all.

I recently purchased two Sense Fitbit units for myself and my husband to replace our old Charge 2 versions.  Today, we took a 12 mile bike ride around our relative level neighborhood (we live in Florida near the bay).  When we checked our stats after the ride, his Sense showed 6 floors and mine showed 31 floors(???!).  Also, his step count was at about 2300 and mine gained an extra 5500 steps.  Any help in trying to remedy this ridiculous count would be greatly appreciated.   I had a Samsung Active 2 for a few days. Loved the interface (Map My Walk, etc) and the GPS accuracy, but the battery life was abysmal.  However, this Sense cost more.  If all I'm getting is better battery life, I'm not so sure it's worth it.

My husband and I had the same problem with step counts. He was recording nearly 1000 more steps than me when we walked together. He suggested that I swing my arms more assertively. It worked! We just compared steps and were within 200 of each other. I tend to stuff my hands in my coat pocket when I’m walking outdoors (especially in the cold months). Have him give it a go the next time you walk!

Yes, and while I'm 'considering' a Sense, I have a Charge 3 and know that even if you walk the same distance, the actual step count can be off somewhat depending on your stride.  Mine can automatically 'learn' your stride or you can set how big your step stride is normally.  I let mine learn and it was pretty accurate in that area and if you don't swing your arms, mine doesn't count properly either.  Again, they should be similar since they are both FitBit.  I'mactually on here reading reviews to see if the Sense is worth it or if I should leave FitBit.

I was more concerned with it counting steps/flights of stairs when we were riding bikes.  As I said in the original post, we were riding in our flat neighborhood and his stair count was about 6 flights while mine recorded 31.   Also, step counting while on our bikes is a little annoying, as well.

my sense is giving me VERY inaccurate floor count. I do abt 20-30 flights a day and my watch counts it as 100... also on days I stay home with no stairs it’ll count non existent stairs.. Is there a way to fix this?

I've got a similar issue. My Sense records too many floors. It has also added floors when I have been walking on flat ground on a clear day with no storm approaching.

No issue with the step count though. That remains accurate.

I am having the same issue. When I first started wearing my Sense it tracked floors just fine, then all of a sudden it has started reading an insane amount of floors. None of the driving and such count as it is happening when I am at home.

Hi!

My Fitbit sense all of a sudden is logging a crazy out of floors. I have read that it can be from driving or closing doors, but this is happening even when I'm sitting with nothing else going on around me.

I have to been able to find any of these thread with an actual answer to fix this. Is there a fix?

Thanks for the help!

You can try restarting the watch, In settings on the watch at the bottom, is shutdown. wait a while then hold the button till it vibrates and wait for it to wake again.

Like factory reset? Because If not that I don't know how to do what you are
saying. We looked through every setting last night and none seemed to be
anything that would stop the counting of extra floors.

I'm also having the same issue and it just started this last week. Yesterday I had registered 62 when I know I didn't have more than 5 and I didn't leave the house. I've been a fitbit user for years and I am very familiar with how it counts floors but that's excessive for a band that for the price should be the most accurate one

Thanks I already tried that a couple of times. It didn’t help.

Same!
Mine was doing just fine and the it was all of a sudden. Now I can't use it
the way I would like because with it logging that many floors, it thinks I
burned that many calories, meaning I don't have an accurate count to
decrease my calories in and out to.

@LostScientist42  I have one flight of stairs in my townhome.  Unless I go up the stairs at a snail's pace, the Sense refuses to log it.  What??
