Sense no longer displays after charging

Fitbit Sense battery died during a muggy day while playing ultimate frisbee. It had 60 percent battery life prior to the 2-hour game. Half way through the game, the screen went black and the buttons could not be activated. The watch battery was dead. I brought it home, washed the sweat off and charged it overnight with the charging unit that came with the Fitbit Sense. The next morning, I found the battery charged (the green lights were flashing on the backside and the buttons can now be activated) but the issue now is my screen does not stay on when I press the buttons. It appears something got damaged inside which does not allow me to view the screen anymore except for a quick flash of the Home Screen when I press the button.

Hi @ReyesL74 - Did you check your Quick Settings? Swipe watch face to the right, they may have accidentally changed while playing or cleaning. You need Wrist wake on and preferably Always On, Sleep and Do not disturb all off.

I had a very similar experience with tennis on a humid day.
Screen wasn’t working (appeared black) but I could feel the vibration and it was counting steps still. Green lights on at the back. Held the button multiple times to reboot but no Fitbit logo ever appeared. Went to charge it thinking it was a low battery issue but now it’s completely unresponsive.

Hi, @SheSheTennis, welcome to the community, Check the state of charge of your "Sense" by syncing your Fitbit app on your phone (On the Today screen slide your finger down and release) note the value next to the battery icon. If it's not charged work out why. Check the 4 pins on the charging cable, and clean the back of the "Sense" (lots of posts on this) review Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Repeat the restart procedure, squeeze the side button for about 20 seconds and release it when the logo appears. The clock face should reappear in about 35 seconds. If you are still stuck contact "Customer Support" using the chat facility or phone for a prompt response, alternatively you contact them via your Fitbit app.

I hope this is helpful.

Cheers

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the issue. It doesn’t hold a charge any longer than a few hours now, and when it is on, has limited functionality. I will be reaching out by telephone to Fitbit for additional assistance. The Sense watch was purchased in Dec 2020.

Thanks for these instructions. I tried all those things and it just won’t hold a charge anymore. I’m working with Fitbit customer support on how to resolve the issue.
