I walked 35 minutes on a treadmill, the equivalent of 1.75 miles. The sense only recorded 1574 steps. To be clear, I wear my Fitbit on my left wrist, and about 1/3 of the 35 minutes I am gripping the heartrate sensors. The rest of the time I am holding the side handles, the top of the display, or swinging my arms. If I raise my arm to view the watch, it starts counting but stops as soon as I grip the handles.
Best AnswerWhy then when I walk outdoors in the winter with my hands in my coat pockets, not swinging, the steps register just fine?
Best Answer@Marob when you keep your hands in your pockets, the hands bounce up and down with your whole body and this counts as steps as well. When you hold the treadmill handles this bouncing doesn't exist either.

For ankle, most need to buy band extenders - available on Amazon their-party.
