Sense reboots during exercise tracking

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I took my less than a month old Sense on a walk at lunchtime today.  This was the first time I've used it to track exercise manually using the Exercise / Walk menu options.  (used to do this all the time with my Versa)

During my 45 minute walk, it rebooted three times, buzzing and showing the Fitbit logo screen each time.  Each time it required me to restart my Walk using the Exercise menu.  What should have been one walk is listed as four different walks in my Activity History.  This never happened with my old Versa.

I don't believe it's ever rebooted outside the exercise feature.  If I don't manually start the exercise, the Sense does recognize my activity, logs it, and does not reboot.  Only problem is that it doesn't map my route, and I really like that feature!

Anyone else having this issue?  Any solution?

Thanks much,

ben

hello! I’m having the same problem too! I thought it was the clock face i’d chosen, so i switched to another and the issue happened again. The first time I encountered this last week, the watch rebooted every 30s! I’m having to turn on the tracker on my Fitbit app AND the sense, but only my phone will accurately record my entire walk/run. The watch records like 200m of the session and reboots, and I have to restart the workout on the watch. It’s super frustrating. This evening it rebooted midway, didn’t track the last half of my run, even though I’d turned the tracker on the watch back on again.

Hi @Clove6060 and @Jana.Velvet@moopiepoo Welcome on board.

Thanks for the details and your efforts while working on this matter. Before anything else, let me share that our team has been informed of an issue experienced with the Sense rebooting by itself while opening the Fitbit app during an exercise tracking. While there isn't a time frame for the fix, rest assured they're working hard to get this resolved as soon as possible. For future updates about this issue, please keep an eye to this thread.

On the other hand, if the Sense reboots regardless at any time of the day, get in touch with our Support team and share the steps you've tried so far. That way, they'll be able to investigate what may be occurring and help you out. You can get connected with them via chat or phone by clicking here.

By the way, @Clove6060 and @moopiepoo I've moved your post to this thread as there are more chances to get related replies here.

in case anyone was wondering - my fitbit sense died today, 200m into a run that it couldn't connect to GPS for.

completely shutdown, can't be charged, can't be rebooted, nothing. the end.

I received some FW update in the past few days, so I am waiting if the issue got fixed or not... So far the watch worked through my walks, but I am afraid to get my hopes up too soon...

Hello Everyone.

I also experienced this issue today.

- Fitbit Sense

- Activity: Run

- Issue: while running a 11.2 mile loop we stopped around mile 6.45. I opened my iPhone. The Fitbit app started to sync. My Sense rebooted during the middle of my run. I now have two runs listed, which should have been one.

- Troubleshooting: contacted tech support via chat. They requested I reboot the Sense and monitor it on my next run.

Additional information: my wife also has a Fitbit Sense. Hers will randomly reboot during an exercise activity. It has done this three times.

thank you in advance.

Hey Again!

I experienced a reboot again today.  I went for a walk with my family.  During our walk, I purposely synced my Sense with the Fitbit iPhone app.  During the sync the Sense rebooted.  I reached out to tech support and they requested I Factory Reset my device.  I kindly declined as I didn't want to have to configure my watch again.

- Fitbit Sense

- Activity: Walk

- Troubleshooting: Rebooted Sense yesterday morning
- Issue: While walking this morning, the Fitbit Sense rebooted when syncing with the iPhone Fitbit App

Thank you again.

So the FW update didn't fix the bug. Yesterday the Sense restarted again during my walk. My phone was in my pocket all the time. This time the first part of the walk even completely missed the GPS tracking.

I also tried syncing the watch later on during an exercise and the watch didn't restart. The app is not the cause of the restarts...

Hello Everyone.  I recently received the Firmware (FW) update about a week or so ago.  Unfortunately, the FW did not correct the issue.
Fitbit Sense Version: 44.128.5.49
iOS Fitbit App: 3.45 (1061)

iOS: 14.7.1

Issue: I went walking with my family again.  During the walk I purposefully synced my Sense and App.  During the sync process, my Sense rebooted twice.

Please let me know what additional information you all may need.

Thanks in advance!

I’m on my 2nd Sense the first one bricked while I was on a hiking vacation and wouldn’t turn back on. It took over a month for them to send me the replacement. Now for the last two runs it rebooted at 2.49 miles. I don’t want to wait another month for them to send a replacement for the replacement. I used the exercise tab on the watch not my phone.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
