Sense recorded sleep while sitting on table

This afternoon I took the sense off for about 2 hours and put it on the kitchen table. Here it is I go into the app a little bit ago and it shows that I had an hour and 48 mins sleep time recorded. I wish I had taken a nap but it was not true...lol I've taken off many bands for an hour or two like the charge two, three , Versa 2, and I don't recall sleep being recorded when the band or watch was not on my wrist.

Hi @sanman202. It's great to see you here in the forums.

Thanks for letting me know that your Sense tracked your sleep incorrectly. I understand your point of view about not having this issue with your previous Fitbit devices. As you may know, your watch will start tracking your sleep activity when it doesn't detect activity. Because your watch was left on the table, it might think you weren't doing activity and track sleep by mistake. Please delete the incorrect sleep log  from the Fitbit app and restart your Sense to ensure its performance. If this continues happening, don't hesitate to let me know.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for the update. I removed that part of the sleep data and have restarted. I'll let you know if there is anything else that may be unusual.

When I leave my Sense sitting on a table for hours, there is a 50% of it generating a sleep log. It's not a major issue for me, because I delete it when I see it.

Hi @sanman202, welcome back! @FloppyDrive, it's good to see you here.

@sanman202, you're welcome and thanks for your efforts in trying the steps suggested above. While this shouldn't happen again, keep monitoring your watch in the next days and keep me posted.

@FloppyDrive, thanks for taking the time to share your insights about the sleep detection. Our team strives to improve our devices features and your feedback will help us to work in that.

Hi -

I did a google search because this has been happening for about a year with me. I have to take my watch off while at work and set it on a table. I recently purchased the new Fitbit Sense and assumed it would go away, but its still happening. I love all the sensors and do not want to disable anything that would be helpful to me. Has there been any progress with detecting if its "zero motion" vs "just motionless asleep"? I don't know if thats possible, as I am not familiar with how "still" someone is while they are sleeping, but I assume its less still than sitting on a table?

In any case, let me know if I am just missing something, or if its just a collecting enough data from many users to distinguish between sleep or if on a table.

Thanks!
