Sense restarting without prompting overnight

Hi! I've been having an issue with my Fitbit Sense lately where around midnight or 1am, it will get stuck in a restart loop. It doesn't happen every night, but some weeks it will be two nights, and others it may be up to 4 nights. I know this is not just an issue with my sleep position, because more than once now it has woken me up and I've watched it restart multiple times without my hand or arm pressing the side buttons. When it wakes me up, I am able to manually restart it and that seems to calm it down in the moment. Sometimes in the morning if I don't catch it during the night, it will be powered off until I manually turn it on. When this happens, it chews up the battery and doesn't track my sleep. Last night, I went to bed with 64% battery, and when I woke up and realized it was off again, it only had 5% battery and had only logged my sleep till 1am. How can I make it stop restarting overnight without prompting?

Thank you for taking the time to share with me all these details regarding the difficulty with your Sense.

Please, make sure to perform the following troubleshoting steps:

1. Sync the device in the Fitbit app.

  • From the Toda tab in the Fitbit app, tap Devices icon on the upper left corner.
  • Choose Sense
  • Tap Sync Now.

2. Check for available Firmware updates.

  • With the Fitbit device nearby, open the Fitbit app. (Make sure the Fitbit device is charged).
  • Tap the Today tab > Devices > your device.
  • Tap Update. (This option only appears if an update is available).
  • Follow the on-screen instructions. (Keep the device close to your phone during the update).

3. Charge your Sense:

  • Double-check the connection: Ensure secure connection to the charging cable and that the cable is plugged into a working USB port (computer or UL-certified wall charger).

4. If these steps don't work, proceed to restart the device, (your data won't be deleted).

5. If your device still is experiencing the same behaviour, try to change the clock face as indicated here.

Hello!

Thank you for the suggestions, but the problem is persisting and seems to be gaining frequency. When I woke up on Friday 8/8, Monday 8/11, and Tuesday 8/12, I had to manually power on my Sense. Because of this, the battery is low on those mornings, despite being at a good place the night before, and it only tracked my sleep till about 1am.

1. I've been syncing my Sense before I go to bed at night, and throughout the day. So far, no improvement.

2. There are currently no firmware updates pending, I've been checking everyday in hopes of one that will solve the issue.

3. Last night I charged it right before I went to bed. I still woke up with it powered off and only at 20% battery when it was powered on.

4. I will try to do a manual nightly restart before bed and see if this improves the issue. Will update if it does. Unfortunately, due to how late it happens, I normally can't catch the issue as it occurs.

5. I tried changing the clock face last night from the default it was set on to one I haven't had issue with in the past, and the problem persisted.

Hi @The_Database - several things to try, if the watch battery is lasting well during the day.

Turn off phone Bluetooth at night.

Make sure there are no alarms set.

Manually put the watch in sleep mode.

Charge the watch fully in the morning and see how the battery level is at bedtime, it should be at least 75%, if it is less the watch may have a problem.
