Sense showing I burnt 7000 calories in a day

Hey guys ,

I bought a Fitbit sense around a month ago and it's pretty cool I must say... The only thing is I think it wildly overestimates the amount of calories I'm burning. Yesterday it said I had burnt 7000!

Is this possible or am I right in thinking that's absurd!

did you check the floor counts?

Sense counts an unbelievable number of floors, which may result in an unbelievable amount of calories as well.

Unfortunately, I lost my confidence and respect for Fitbit, especially after seeing for customer support you can only contact via twitter.

Hello @Tquinn93. Welcome to the community forums. @volkan_ayk Nice to see you around and thanks for your input.

@Tquinn93 I'm sorry for the experience and thank you for the detailed information. Adding to the post above, I'd like to let you know that Fitbit devices combine your basal metabolic rate (BMR) the rate at which you burn calories at rest to maintain vital body functions (including breathing, blood circulation, and heartbeat) and your activity data to estimate your calories burned. If your device tracks heart rate, your heart-rate data is also included, especially to estimate calories burned during exercise. The number you see on your Fitbit device is your total calories burned for the day.

Your BMR is based on the physical data you entered in to your Fitbit account (height, weight, sex, and age) and accounts for at least half the calories you burn in a day. Because your body burns calories even if you’re asleep or not moving, you see calories burned on your device when you wake up and will notice this number increase throughout the day.

In this case, I'd recommend making sure that the information you entered in to your Fitbit account, such as height, weight, sex and age are updated and correct. I also recommend performing a restart to your Sense by following the instructions here

@volkan_ayk I also appreciate your comments and feedback. If you need to get in touch with our Support Team, take into consideration that you can do this through chat or over the phone, but phone wait times have been longer than normal, so I recommend initiating a chat. Hope this helps.
