(Event 1) I purchased a Fitbit Sense on 6/12/21. Today, 7/31/21, I noticed that the outside temperature reading (accessed by sliding the clock screen up) is missing and instead is the message:
"Weather app needs special permissions. Tap here and check your phone." Nothing happens when I tap the message. On the tracker itself, when I touch the icon for Weather app, a message says:
"No weather data available. Sync the Fitbit mobile app to update."
I don't know what it is asking me to do? How do I sync the"Fitbit mobile app"?
(Event 2) I also found today in among my many cell phone apps, an app named "Fitbit Coach". Opening it is the message:
"Saying Goodbye
The Fitbit Coach app has been shut down as of July 30th, 2021, but 250+ workouts (including many from Coach!) are available in the Fitbit app with a Premium membership." [open Fitbit]
Is there a connection between the Coach app shut-down and the missing temperature reading?

I had misunderstood. I had synced by pulling down on the main page. I have now tried your suggested method of taping the top left icon and tapping Sync now. That didn't change anything on the Sense either, but it made the phone app switch to a page titled "Update Tracker Software." I touched [Apps] [My Apps tab] [Weather] [Permissions] [Select All].
This fixed the temperature on the Sense.

No, they are unrelated. When this happens it is because the Sense has not sync'd with the app recently. Just open the app, tap on you in the upper left if it doesn't automatically start syncing and then tap on the Sense. You should then see an option to sync now.

On the sense, I scroll down to the message "Weather app needs special permissions. Tap here and check your phone."
When I tap, there is for 1 second an image of the weather icon. Then the message:
"No weather data available. Sync the Fitbit mobile app to update."
I don't get any message on the phone (with the Fitbit app opened). I sync anyway. The sync is verified by the message "Sync complete". Nothing changes on the Sense.
Did I leave out a step?
