Sense stopped working after getting wet

It says it is water resistant to 50 Meters. My Fitbit Sense is three years old and is out of warranty. The case is good. Took it swimming once, just in shallow water and now the watch is no good. Fitbit just says out-of-warranty. I read many other similar stories that have now had comments ended.  I copied and pasted one below. What can we do? I have bought three fitbits and am ready to try a different company.

Anyone know if you can transfer your data to a different brand.

Very disappointed.

I went swimming wearing my Sense and had the swim programme activated when it stopped working. Sensors appear water logged with condensation. Contacted Fitbit regarding this and they just say my warranty is out. But this isn't a warranty issue, the Sense is faulty, and not waterproof to 50m as they advertise. Numerous emails and they just gave a small discount code to buy a new one, and now ignoring my emails, and not addressing the issue. Anyone else encounter similar issues with it not being waterproof?

Hi @Nihonjin - unfortunately once a watch gets water damage out of warranty Fitbit will do nothing.

The discount isn't that attractive either and is only available on the more expensive later models which don't have all the features of the Sense.

The seals on Fitbit watches can often be poor and do deteriorate over time, sometimes the face will just fall off.

Bingo

What guy said.

I’d  want to communicate directly with the successor  company on whether data transfers for a definitive answer.

Good Luck

I had this problem too, in c. 2 inches of water (Dec 2023). Fitbit will do nothing once it's out of warranty. They offer 30% off a new device! While refusing to accept its a fault.

Thank you for sharing. They didn't even offer 30 %. I wrote to them again.

This happened to me as well. Sorry to say that was it for the watch. Fitbit was not helpful and I will not be buying any new devices from them. I went through 7 devices in 8 years. I'm pretty  sure it's engineered failure. I bought a refurb on eBay until I decide on a new brand.

I did this too but now the other device won't update firmware or sync with
my phone.... And they can't fix that either!

Wow, super bummer. Sorry to hear. Fitbit hasn't ever been super helpful.

What are you using now?

Me too.  Not even water resistant.  LEDs won't come on.  All it will do is count steps even after I have done a factory reset twice.  Wonderful that a Google company won't stand behind their product.

I’m on holiday in Malaysia from UK at the moment and just been swimming (50m max) with my 3year old Sense with swim mode activated. Got out of pool dried watch and screen completely dead. Was thinking of contacting Fitbit but after seeing comments about their customer support don’t think I’ll bother. Won’t be getting another watch from them
