Sense stopped working after update

this is regarding the FORCED bricking of my fitbit sense. i have had this device for over 2 years, with no problems. with great reluctance, i decided this morning to get this over with, figuring that my sense has about a 15% chance of coming out of this alive.

***note to google: i have read the comments. i have read the articles. i SEE what you are doing.***

the options i have today are: try to "update" the device, which will almost certainly brick it, or ignore the update, and on Jan 30, google will "perform a factory reset" on this device, which is essentially the same thing.

anyhow, i digress. this morning, with a sigh of great reluctance, i took my sense off the charger with a 100% charge. grabbed the phone it is SUPPOSED to be linked to, and went to the living room. waded through of all of the shiny objects google has "added" "for my benefit' to try to start this update. got to the desk, sat down, battery level on sense: 89%. what in the actual f**k??? the whole "journey" from bedroom to desk was like 22 steps... 15 seconds MAYBE... and 11% of the sense battery was drained? this watch normally goes 4+ days on a charge. and i hadnt even started the "update". i sighed again and told the app to begin. the app couldnt find the sense (which the app was reporting the 89% charge on the sense battery) and i confirmed on the sense. shuffling through the BULLSH*T GARBAGE about paying to access that google wants to sell me so that i can see what time it is, i then discovered that the app shows connected to the 89% charge device (which i had put BACK on the charger and was then at 94%) BUT the device shows 94% charged (see previous sentence) says that it is NOT connected to the phone. additionally, at that time, the app said "synced 30 seconds ago". now the app is saying "synced 22 minutes ago" but it is reporting a 99% charge level.

so i guess this is a b*tch session, but i DO want to know a couple of things:
1) this update is NOT about an "overheating issue". i had a sense before this one that DID overheat, this one after actually about 2 /12 years isnt dong that. what is this "update REALLY addressing?
2)  why did my sense discharge at the rate of 1% every 2 seconds a few minutes ago?

3) how can the app be connected to the device, but the device NOT be connected to the app?

4) why did google remove the ability to connect my device to my PC from the app. i can't use my PC to call 911, why would i expect my god-**ahem**ed phone to track my sleep?

so there's these things. i don't really expect an answer, because that would require someone to admit something that would not make "the investors" happy... but i REALLY want google to know that at least ONE person on this planet can smell a turd when they step on one.

P.S.: if the sense discharges 11% in 20 seconds, it won't retain a charge long enough for a "20 minute" update.
