Sense totals dashboard calories wrong and won't add some foods.

My Sense will not add all food items to the dashboard to be deducted from calories burned and the ones it does add, the total calories is wrong.  I have signed out, deleted the cache, turned off my phone and restarted it several times. Nothing works. I'm so tired of fitbit, there's something all the time. A while ago it started showing a battery w/a slash thru it and yet the battery on my watch and phone are fully charged and in close proximity. I started with the Ionic and it always said Slow Charging while I charged it. I bought a new cable and use a Samsung wall adapter direct to the wall outlet and it still does it. I clean the back of my watch everyday when I take it off to shower. Not happy w/Fitbit at all!

Hi, @pahasapa, welcome, it's a pity you are having these problems with your "Sense", let me see if I can give you a way forward.

Food logging depends on having selected the correct national database, even where the information is comprehensive there are frequently gaps. We are creatures of habit and tend to eat the same things most of the time, if your preferences are missing from your dataset then you can add them in the app. How do I track my food with the Fitbit app? provides advice and guidance, it may take a few days to get it the way you want it but once done it's easy to use.

The slow charging signal is the result of two factors, the first is your contacts on the back of the device need cleaning, rubbing alcohol is the best way, I use cotton wool pads and cotton buds which I rotate in the little pits on the back of the "Sense". Warm soapy water is an alternative until you get a bottle of rubbing alcohol. How do I clean my Fitbit device?  maybe helpful.

The second factor is the condition of your charging cable pins, the 4 pins that fit in the pits on the back of your "Sense" need to be slightly proud of the mating surface and free moving (they are spring-loaded) wiggle them gently with your finger if they are not as they should be contact "Customer Support" here or buy a replacement from Amazon. If you continue to have a problem charging you may find this article of interest Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

I hope this is helpful.

Cheers

Hi,

Have been having trouble logging food via my phone app (Samsung, Android) for 2 days now. I'm trying various ways to break down what's happening. So far, it seems that after my first use of the app to log food on any day, further items logged via the app do not get added into the total eaten or affect how many calories left. If I log on via a PC they usually are ... as a temporary workaround, ok, but feel really frustrated as it appears that I only ever have to come onto this community to complain about Fitbit.

Anyone else having this problem?

Hi, @FredCTW, can you confirm you are syncing your phone after logging the food? The quickest way to do this is to slide your finger down the "Today" screen in the Fitbit app on your phone. You do of course need your phone to be online via Wifi or cell data.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers
