Sensitivity for tracking steps for people using assistive devices to walk

Hello,

My father-in-law uses the fitbit Sense and we have noticed that since he started using an assistive device to walk (i.e 4 wheeled walker, rollator, etc.) he cannot capture his step count accurately even while in hike, walk, and run mode. I was wondering if there is an update or advanced setting we can use to better capture his new step count per day?  I know Fibit uses your step length and arms swinging motion to capture steps/running/walking but he will no longer be able to swing his arms and will have to hold on to his walker.

Warm Regards,

Brittany

If he had a definite forward arm motion with each step, that might get captured as steps, but not if steady forward motion.

For step count, he would probably get a more accurate count putting it in a pocket.  But then you lose all heart rate data.

With it on wrist, though not getting step count, you would still be getting heart rate data and its associated values such as calorie burn.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Hi,

I'm finding that while I can't get a step count, my walks are being classified as bike rides, but the GPS tracks the distance so I can extrapolate from that.  Good luck!
