Should these notches be there or has my sense arrived damaged?

My Sense has just arrived (ten minutes ago) and when I’ve opened it up it has four small “notches” set between the metal and glass casing. Are these supposed to be there or do I need to report as damaged?

I should have added, these are at the top of the screen as shown on the picture here…not very well.

Hello @SamHagan and welcome to the Community.  Your photo didn't get added.  Can you try again?  My husband's Sense doesn't have any apparent notches, but the metal rim is definitely divided into an upper and lower segment.  This is part of the ECG hardware.

@SamHagan  - doesn't appear to be normal, is it a new watch or a refurbished replacement?

@SamHagan  - perhaps it would show better from a different angle but it' doesn't seem normal, get a refund and get a new one where you bought it.

@SamHagan   My husband has a Sense and I have a Versa 3.  The case should be smooth.  I agree.  Return it,
