Sleep Tracking

Hi Fitbit Community,

I have a question regarding the Sleep Tracking:

Some last days I slept a lot because of a cold.

So yesterdays schedule:

03:48 - 11:57 Sleep (Fitbit recorded that as sleep)

11:58 - 13:00 Awake

13:01 - 21:00 Sleep (Fitbit didn’t record that as sleep, but I definitely slept)

Also when I sometimes do an afternoon nap of maybe 2 hours Fitbit doesn’t record it as sleep.

Do you know how I could fix that? It is clear for me that it is probably difficult to record a short nap, but when I sleep 8 hours it should detect it as sleep? Is is possible that Fitbit Sense can just record 1 sleep per day?

Thanks a lot!

Michael

Hi @Hengstar,.

The Sense (and other trackers) will only record sleep if it doesn't sense any motion at all for 2 hours or more.  After that, it will automatically record the hours retroactively when you fell asleep.  For example, if you went to bed at 8PM, the Sense won't start tracking your sleep until about 10 PM, It will sense that you haven't moved since 8PM and will therefore include that in the sleep log.  You can also read about how to edit your sleep in case it doesn't record your sleep accurately.

@Hengstar Actually, 1 hour is the minimum for sleep tracking. If you took a 2 hour nap that it didn't track, you might've too restless.

As for that 13:00 to 21:00, it should've picked that up but some people have had sleep tracking miss once in a while, some more often than others. I personally have been getting all my sleep tracked just fine.

Hi

My fitbit will record sleep if I nap over an hour so it should record 2 hrs

However it all depends on how you slept you might think you slept say 9hrs but it could be you woke up and don't remember it therefore fitbit will record less than you thought

Also it could be that your fitbit isn't recording sleep as you moved around a lot again you might not remember this

Fitbit can also only give you a sleep score if sleep was consistent

In my opinion Fitbit sense is the most accurate sleep tracking device out there ...but we all sleep differently and sleep is very strange as I said you could think you slept a solid 9 hours yet wake tired because in fact you didn't have a " good" sleep its happened to me then there's the flip side of having just 4 hrs of sleep yet I've woken feeling refreshed it all comes down to quality of sleep and your fitbit will reflect that

I had a pretty rough night last night. My 8 month old kept waking up. The pink awakes were right at the times I had to get up. And my Sense was smart enough to split my sleep up.

Yet it still added them together on the Today screen.
