I got my new Sense for Christmas. Dropped it this morning and it cracked. It's worthless now. Should I have gone with an Apple Watch? I've been a FitBit customer for at least 8 years. So disappointed. I loved my Sense. I've asked them to send me another one since it's a gift and they won't. I didn't throw it on the floor. It was an accident. I'm so angry.

Sorry to hear that, @bsb24brit! Unfortunately, the Fitbit warranty does not include accidental damage, unless you purchased the Extended Warranty at the time of purchase.

So I'm going to have a to spend $100 fixing a gift I just received (for free, a gift) when the design is flawed? I think, given how cheap this is made, it should be covered under the warranty. If it drops when you break it, that's a design issue and the consumer should be compensated fairly.

What makes you entirety entitled to have it freely fixed? That's like buying a new ferrari, driving it off the lot and then crashing it..
It's gorilla glass 3.. it's not sapphire screen..

It shouldn't break so easily. Like I said, I've been a fitbit customer for years. This was a gift. No I shouldn't have to pay to replace it.

I didn't ask for your reply. I can't be the first person this has happened to and Fitbit should be aware their design is flawed.

Well I've dropped mine on tiles.. It didn't break. Should have put a screen protector on it then..

Again, I didn't ask for your reply. Fitibt needs to be aware of this so they can make a better product in the future.

I have a question on this subject. I just purchased the
Fitbit 2-Year Protection Plan for Sense with Accidental Damage Coverage
Would I be covered in a case of accidental damage, like dropping it?

@cplmckenzie, you would have to read your plan, but in general the answer would be yes. That is why it is titled Accidental Damage Coverage. The Fitbit Extended Warranty includes coverage for accidental damage, but the basic 1-year warranty does not.
I am not sure I could call dropping & breaking the glass screen a design flaw. Glass breaks when impacted regardless of the design. Even the "bullet proof" window of the Tesla truck discovered that.

No offense but I have dropped my Fitbit's over the years, I even fell over heavily and my Ionic at the time hit the ground which was gravel with force. Not a scratch, I have dropped and knocked my Versa 2/3/Sense and no damage. Also how do you know Apple products are built any better? their phones are notoriously fragile and roughly 90% of the iPhones I see are cracked. Any device (even one with Sapphire Glass) will break if it hits a stress point such as a corner at the correct angle and with sufficient force. Plus, would Apple repair your watch if you dropped and broke it? I highly doubt it, no-one has an entitlement to a repair of a product they have damaged themselves and all products have to pass certain requirements during manufacture.
And finally if you don't want people to reply to your posts then please refrain from posting in a public community forum.

You are. It will cost you $60 for the plan and another $40 each deductible. And hopefully they'll send me a brand new one. I don't want refurbished. Unfortunately though, I believe if you use a screen protector, some of the features of the sense like the EDR won't work. Again, design flaw.

Like I said, been using different Fitbits for 10 years. Never had any issues with any of them dropping and when it's stopped working, Fitbit has always been great about replacing it. This is very disappointing.

Been using fitbit for about 8 years too, and sorry to hear about your Sense and the joy that was lost when you accidentally dropped it and cracked. I've owned my Sense since the first day of release, and a couple weeks ago, I accidentally dropped it from about five feet(152 cm) onto tile and it landed flat on its face. I was afraid to see the outcome of that drop and to my surprise, not a crack or a mark...maybe I was lucky. Hopefully, your repair costs are reasonable. I thought about using a screen protector, but I dislike cases, even on my phone.

I also just noticed a fine line in my screen. I have not done anything to cause this damage. The screens seem very fragile. I have read a lot reviews of people complaining about this and they just came out in October! I am assuming the complaints will continue to grow. If Fitbit won't address this problem our next best step as consumers is to leave reviews online. This will help warn potential buyers and may force Fitbit to address the issue.

This is a very common complaint. I recommend putting many reviews online to warn customers. It is definitely a design flaw. My Fitbit got a crack and there was no reason for this to happen.

Apple watch screens crack too. My daughter had one and dropped it...the screen broke. It wasn't a design flaw that caused it to break...it was bad luck. Apple doesn't cover accidental damage such as that. She ended up buying a new one instead of paying over $300 for repair.
If you use a screen protector - that is, one that just covers the screen and not the edges of the Sense - it will not affect the EDA scan nor the ECG. Only if you use a full cover, will you need to remove it to do them. And that only takes a few seconds. I have both types of protector and prefer the full cover. I have bumped my watch several times already and have not done any damage thanks to it.
The only complaints I've read on here about cracked screens are due to dropping it. That's not a design flaw, it's just an accident. If you don't put a protector on something with a screen, be it a phone or a watch, chances are it can break if you drop it. Personally, I can't imagine buying (or being gifted) something like a Sense and not putting a protector on it. But, then again, I'm older so I was brought up to always take care of my belongings. If it broke because of our carelessness, it wasn't replaced.
