I got my new Sense for Christmas. Dropped it this morning and it cracked. It's worthless now. Should I have gone with an Apple Watch? I've been a FitBit customer for at least 8 years. So disappointed. I loved my Sense. I've asked them to send me another one since it's a gift and they won't. I didn't throw it on the floor. It was an accident. I'm so angry.

If cracked or broken glass is a design flaw, there is a lot of money to be made here! The first person that develops a thin glass that cannot crack or break will have a patent that will be worth millions of dollars. As @slbert said, there is a large market for screen protectors simply because no glass has yet been developed that will not crack or break. Over the past 7 decades I have had many, many glass items develop stress fractures or break, and I have had to replace them - some of them were covered by insurance I purchased, and some were not, but none of them were covered by any warranty. I once had an HP laptop that had a very nice glass touch screen display, and after arriving at a conference I was attending I opened the laptop to find the screen had cracked and was unusable. Was that stress crack covered by warranty? Nope, it was my expense. Like the original poster of this thread said, it was not abused. It just cracked. Someone needs to create a glass that removes the design flaw that allows it to crack or break.

So you shouldn't have to pay for your mistakes / accidents then? Irregardless of if you got it as a gift, you did drop it so it is your own fault not Fitbit's. Would you feel better if you had purchased the watch yourself and then dropped it and now have to pay to fix it? I might agree that they should use a better glass seeing people are using this while doing various vigorous exercises. Should be able to handle bumps and small falls like most cell phones.

Hello. I appreciate your comments. I agree a screen can crack. However,
most of the comments state the falls were minor and the owners did not feel
it should not have cracked. I just noticed a crack on my screen. There was
no fall. So whatever happened to cause my screen to crack it was nice or
enough that I did not even notice. This is an expensive watch and a sports
watch to boot so it should be designed to handle a minor level of wear and
tear. I had a versa 2 before this and never had any issues. It is too
bad. I have been a Fitbit fan, but am now considering an Apple Watch. I am
sure this one won’t last long.

With all due respect....
Now that you know ( thank you for informing the community) how fragile the screen is, people should put a screen saver/bumper on their expensive electronic device (like I’ve done with my iPhone iPad, sense, etc.). A little extra protection and care, goes a long way when it comes to the longevity and pleasure of your
Sense. If I drop mine and it breaks, I would be upset too, but at myself. Thanks again for letting us know.
My wife and both my kids have Apple watches.
I believe they don’t cover accident either.
If your Apple Watch screen breaksaccidentally, you can replace your Apple Watch for an out-of-warranty fee. The Applewarranty doesn't cover damage caused by accident or abuse. If your screen cracks due to a manufacturing defect, it's covered by the Apple warranty and consumer law.
Apple does not offer a screen repair or replacement service for Apple Watch and Apple Watch is not user-serviceable. Your watch will instead need to be replaced. Apple's Limited Warranty covers issues due to defects in materials and workmanship, but not due to accidental damage.

I have Apple Watch , 3 years ago it dropped on the ground , and that was 500 euros , and Apple can’t repair it , you must buy a new one ,
my Fitbit sense , it dropped one time , and no issues.
