Thinking of buying a Sense

Hello. I am considering buying a Fitbit Sense and was looking at the item on the John Lewis website (a UK department store). I was interested to see that you can receive 6 months of Fitbit Premium for free with the purchase. However I am already a member (up until October) so I wanted to check what would happen if I bought it this month. Would I lose most of those free six months or could it be added to the end after my current Premium membership expires in five months' time?

I like the idea of having an oximeter on my wrist and measuring my Sp oxygen level and as I currently have an Inspire HR I am missing the chance to count how many floors I climb. The one thing I am disappointed about is that my Inspire will become redundant once I upgrade. It is a pity you cannot keep the Inspire and Sense for counting steps. I might need to look at whether to get a second, much cheaper Fitbit that can be run alongside Sense to count my steps whenever I am charging my main device. I'd be interested to know any thoughts and suggestions. Thanks! 🙂

Are you aware that you can have only one device on your Fitbit app at a time?  Unless I am mistaken. I have the Inspire HR and the Sense.

if I want to wear the HR and get data on my app, I have to delete the sense.

i wouldn’t bother, I have a sense and am disappointed. The steps are inaccurate, the heart rate still reads when I’m not wearing it and the oxygen sensor only works at night whilst sleeping. Continuously won’t sync, battery now draining and lasts 8hours instead of several days. Won’t be buying another, I’m swapping to Apple Watch, which my daughter has and is really pleased with.

@Callyo , I'm sorry to say, Sense is at the moment nothing more than an expensive watch, with a step counter. HR are way off, RHR and HRV are both way off. Personally, I could live with that for a limited period of time, but it seems like Fitbit don't give a flying f**k. I strongly recommend you to spend your money elsewhere.

BTW, it charges fast, and battery life is good.

They have not fine tuned the app and it’s a giant pain in the **ahem**. Food logging is annoying and difficult, doesn’t work through the app you have to go on website , then logging a recipe is frustrating. The sleep data is valuable to me as I have apnea and that’s why I got this Sense.

if you don’t need that Go with Apple.

So many of the functions don't work properly or consistently. That makes it difficult to rely on any part being accurate. From the beginning the premium app has had problems, especially syncing and downloading info from the watch. The watch itself seems to work fine but the app does not, has not and I don't think ever will. They have supposedly been working on it for months. Has anyone seen any progress? Not me.

functions are inconsistent, continually fails to sync with app, being a premium member I like some of the added benefits, but the syncing issue is really not worth the aggravation. Save your money!

Thanks for all your answers. I am getting the strong impression that it is not worth buying the Sense. I have considered buying an Apple Watch although one thing I am not clear on with them is what happens in transferring information over if at some point I want to upgrade my iPhone. Also I have built up 35 million lifetime steps and I’ll be starting from zero with Apple (and do they provide data records in a similar way to Fitbit?).  I have really liked my Inspire HR and only had a couple of problems - and the main one is every time I climb a hill I would like to measure ascent. I’ll keep looking so let me know if you have any further ideas or comments.
