Trying to answer phone call on phone

I'm trying to set up my Sense to answer my phone (Google Pixel 3a). The "Sense" device is connected via Bluetooth to my phone. I'm able to pair the "Sense Controls." Both my phone and on the watch Settings > Vibration & audio > Sense Controls show that "Sense Controls" is paired. However, whenever I connect the "Sense Controls" device on my phone, it immediately disconnects.

I've tried "forgetting" the Sense Controls on my phone and then repairing, but still the Sense Controls immediately disconnects on my phone. I've also tried resetting the watch,

If I try to make a test call, the phone recognizes a call is coming in, but when I accept the call, I get an error message on the phone "There is something wrong with your connection. Take call on phone.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @SunsetRunner you say that sense controls show paired on both sides. That is what you want. You haven't mentioned what phone you have. You then say when you tap sense controls on the phone, it disconnects. On Android that is what should happen.

You want to show as paired on the phone and on the tracker. This way it is a trusted device and when the answer button is pressed the Bluetooth says, you are friend and passes the commend on.

I just tried a test call and when I pressed answer, yes I got the something wrong message. Have someone call your phone.

Did you go through the App and select "On-wrist calls"? It goes through the procedure and points out the permission, and will tell you when it is done properly. "Sense Controls" disconnects until it is needed.

@Rich_Laue, thanks for replying and explaining that the disconnect of the Sense Controls is normal. I did try a call from another phone and was pleasantly surprised that it did work correctly even though the test call does not. I had wrongly assumed that the test call should be answered successfully.

@FloppyDrive, thanks for your reply. I did go through the App and select "On-wrist calls" successfully. I was able to call my phone from another phone and have a successful connection to my Sense watch. I didn't understand that the "Sense Controls" is supposed to disconnect until needed and that the failure to connect from the Fitbit app test call is normal.

Even the Sense doesn't stay connected. It only Connects when requested. This is to save battery life.

When would the Sense disconnect? So far, whenever I've checked the Bluetooth connected devices on the phone, it always shows the Sense as connected.

With android you should see paired, which is different then connected.

The only time I saw connected was when I was upswing the connected gps slurring a walk.

Hmm, that's interesting. I always see the Sense as connected to the phone and the Sense Controls as paired.

I am having this same problem.

The watch is pairing to the phone (Nokia 5.3). Incoming call comes up on the watch and when you press answer, I get a Connection Error message.  I then have to turn the Bluetooth off then back on, on the phone the get things working again.

This is very frustrating and not a simple process.

Would love a step by step guide on getting this working as it should.

Thanks in advance.

I tried this it DID NOT WORK BUT.....

ALL of the recommendations failed to include a note about NOTIFICATIONS.

YOU MUST

Open Fitbit App.

Click on Gear Upper left corner in Android

Select the Sense Picture

Scroll down to NOTIFICATIONS

Turn ON Calls,

Go To APP Notifications

Scroll Down to PHONE

Check the box

Back out leave the APP open

Call the Phone.

I do hope this helps I struggled for about an hour before I figured out it would SHOW the buttons but not allow them to control the phone...

Too much tech is annoying.
