Try Swipe left edge to the right to get to Quick Settings

and grey out the middle top Sleep icon and the Do not disturb icon to the left if they are enabled.

Scroll right to Settings; scroll down to 'Quiet Modes'; Sleep Mode is under that.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I am trying to figure out how to turn off sleep mode. Several of the settings say they’re locked during sleep mode. When I go to settings, quiet mode, sleep mode... the button won’t push. I’ve tapped. I’ve held it down. I’ve pressed harder. Nothing has happened. I even tried force restarting the sense to see if it would reset to factory settings but that didn’t help.
please advise

In Settings on the Sleep Mode screen at bottom right, there is a on/off slider; tap the side you want, or 'slide' the selector.

Yes, I did tap the slider and it doesn’t do anything. In fact, the writing is gray, not colorful like the top option - Focus Mode. That one will let me turn it on and off just fine but the rest of them are light and won’t do anything.

That was very helpful. Thank you. Couldn't figure this out for a week.

If you setup a sleep schedule for the hours that you are normally asleep.

Leave this Sleep Mode active. The Sleep Mode will be automated based on the sleep schedule.

This was DEFINITELY helpful! Thank you!

Thank you. That worked 👍

These instructions are insufficient for the Fitbit Sense. First, you need to press “ button,” then you need to tap the clock face, and only then swipe left to get a display of six icons, with the crescent in the upper middle.

Hi @JeffZX -  to get to Quick Settings on a Sense you need to Swipe the left edge to the RIGHT [when the display is on, obviously].

The various icons need to be adjusted correctly for your need. To turn off sleep make sure the moon icon is not enabled.

If the display is not on when you look at your watch you may want to turn on the wrist icon, which makes the screen come on when you look at the watch.

If you are still not getting notifications you may want to turn off the No entry icon too.

For my one-week-old Sense, the same problem. Easy to put it into Sleep mode. One tap. Like the other settings. Getting it out of sleep mode requires multiple taps, typically about 4-5. I only have to do it once a day, but it is a bit annoying. And I am curious: is this a bug in the s/w or is there some UX theory that it should be harder to get out of Sleep mode than to go into it?

Today it took 10 taps to get my Sense out of Sleep mode. (Yeah, tried multiple times. And I counted each time, with increasing number of taps each try.) It definitely does NOT work like toggling out of other settings, which typically require only 1 tap. I guess I'll call Customer Support. Again. Generally, FITBIT CS personnel are excellent. Kudos to the company on that. But I'd rather spend my day doing other things.

Hi @floridawalk -  did you try and restart the watch, in Settings at the bottom, Shutdown, then wait 10 seconds and place on the charger to restart it and charge it, or push the button.

If that works it is possibly a good practice to refresh your watch once per charge if you are charging once every 6 days.

Thanks! I will give that a try next time. Generally if I keep tapping enough it'll got out of Sleep mode, but it can be one, two, or a dozen taps to do that and I can't discern a pattern. As much as I like many features of the Sense -- and particularly the beautiful display, that better accords with my eyesight than prior models -- I sometimes miss the simplicity of my Charge3. It did less but did it consistently and w/o need for reboots or vists to the Support forums.

@floridawalk-  just to make sure, you do have Quick view enabled in the Fitbit App? click Profile photo, Device photo, Quick view. Or on the watch Quick Settings, enable wrist action.

Please remember that it has a touch screen. A tap is a quick touch and lift, the same as when typing on your smart phone.
