Unable to use side button and now stuck in swim mode

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello. The side button stopped working on my sense a little while ago. Not sure how to fix that, but today i tried out swim mode for the first time and when i was done, i realized that it's locked until i can double tap the side button, which isn't possible since the button isn't functional.

I can't factory reset the watch since i cannot access apps from the sense due to it being locked for swim mode. At this point I'm not sure what to try.

Any suggestions?

Hi, @BaileeHolmes, welcome, suggest you retry the "restart". Hold the side button (note it I not really a button, there is no mechanical action - it's a sensor) for about 20 seconds, the screen should go dark and then the Fitbit icon will show, release and wait about 30 seconds by which time it should have restarted. The double squeeze of the side button can be a bit finicky, especially when the screen is wet.

Check the battery state of charge in the "today" screen on your Fitbit app slide your finger down and release to sync, if the battery is low or not charging Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?  provides information and advice. Check your charging cable to see if the four little pins are slightly proud and free (they are spring-loaded) wiggle gently with your finger. Clean the back of your "Sense", I use rubbing alcohol and a cotton wool pad along with a cotton bud to detail the pits that locate the pins on attachment.

If you are still stuck, please post here again.

Cheers

I appreciate your response, but I am unable to do that. I tried, the sensor (what i've been referring to as the "button") is non-functional, and has been for some time. Attempting to tap or hold or do anything with that sensor does not work. Therefore, I am unable to reset, restart, or factory restore the watch. I am locked into swim mode.

Sorry to hear this did not work.

@BaileeHolmes   Just to clarify, the button on the Sense isn't a button that moves in and out, but it is supposed to vibrate when you press it.  If yours isn't vibrating at all, please contact Support for more help.

correct. there is the sensor (little indent on the left side of the watch) that i have been calling a button. It does exactly nothing when covered, touched, tapped, whatever you want to call it. The sensor becoming non-functional seems to be a known issue from my searching for an answer and the first step has been "factory reset" the watch. However, I am unable to factory reset the watch as it is locked in swimming mode. Therefore I cannot access the "Settings" app on the device itself in order to factory reset it

Hi @BaileeHolmes - try changing the clock face in the fitbit app this might stop the swim to change clock face, then you can change it back after and have control of your watch.

Hi, @BaileeHolmes, if changing the clock face via your Fitbit app does not work you should definitely talk to "Customer Support" as recommended by @LZeeW .
