The only way to activate the water lock feature on the Fitbit Sense is to log a swimming session on the exercise app. This is a source of inconvenience if all I'm trying to do is wash my hands or take a shower or wash dishes. I shouldn't have to remove my watch every time, nor should I have to log a workout session in order to turn on the water lock.
Best AnswerHello @Hestuart and welcome to the Community. I apologize if I misread what you wrote. I think you misunderstand the purpose of the water lock. The water lock keeps water from activating the screen. It doesn't change the device's water resistance. I've worn wrist Fitbits since the Charge HR was released and have never felt the need to remove it to wash my hands or do light dishwashing. I wear gloves when I do heavier dishwashing, but I do it to protect my skin from hot water, not necessarily to protect my Fitbit. My first two wrist Fitbit's couldn't be worn in the shower. I kept that habit with newer Fitbits to give my wrist a daily rest. Fitbit's Product Care Help article recommends removing your Fitbit while showering to reduce exposure to shampoos, soaps, and conditioners. They might cause long term damage to the seals.

Hi @Hestuart - you could always try swiping the watch face to the right to get to Quick Settings and deactivating wrist wake to stop the screen waking constantly, if that is what you mean.
Even so some movements may still action the button and the watch may have to be worn higher up the arm.
It isn't a good idea to wear a Fitbit in the shower.
