What is the difference between active minutes and zone minutes?

as per the title, what is the difference between active minutes v zone minutes please ?

I note that active minutes aren't on the phone app, just the web dashboard ?

I also noticed today that having completed 150 zone minutes I'd only done 27 active minutes

Hello @SunsetRunner It's nice to see you again in the Community Forums! @Guy_ It's great to see you around and thank you for your help!

@SunsetRunner you earn 2 Active Zone Minutes for each minute you’re in the cardio or peak zones. As mentioned through the link that @Guy_ provided, for more intense workouts, such as spinning, interval training, or running, the number of Active Zone Minutes you earn might exceed the length of your workout. For example, if you run for a total of 20 minutes and spend 10 minutes in the fat burn zone and 10 minutes in the cardio or peak zones, you earn 30 Active Zone Minutes.

Your Sense doesn't track active minutes but Active Zone Minutes. The stat for Active Zone minutes can be seen on the Today tile on the Fitbit App. If you don't see it, it might be possible that it was hidden.

To add it back, please follow:

1. On the Today tab , tap Edit.
2. To add a stat tile, swipe down and find the stat you want to add > tap on the + icon.
3. Tap Done.

Keep me posted.

So how do I get Active Zone minutes to show up on the web dashboard? All I see is active minutes, but I'd like to see the same number on the dashboard as I see on my Sense.

My understanding is that they will not, they only show in the app

@mbarylski   You can see your zone minutes on your web dashboard with a little work.  There is a tile called the Activity + Stats tile.  This is the tile that has the dropdown for steps, HR, distance, etc., and the dropdown for Daily, 7 Days, 28 Days.  Set it to Heart Rate and Daily and you will see Zone Minutes.  When you hover your cursor over the graph, you will see your zones based on your RHR.

My web tile that looks like the phone dashboard showed 50 active minutes for that day.

@LZeeW Hmmm, I believe that hover over is showing beats per minute, not zone minutes. It does however appear that you could add Fat Burn Zone, Cardio Zone, and Peak Zone to get active move minutes. There appears to be a glitch with the Peak Zone minutes on mine though. Every day I look at it, the Peak Zone minutes are less than 5, but on my phone it's higher than 15. Something isn't matching up right. Regardless though, even if the numbers did add up correctly, they still have to be manually added. Easier to just look at my phone.

@mbarylski   I'm sorry that my screenshot was confusing to you.  The cursor hover shows that my zone minute fat burn starts at 90 bpm and my cardio at 111 bpm.  My active minute fat burn starts at 77 bpm.  You do need to do the math to add it up -- I did say that this takes work.  On that day, I only had fat burn minutes.  My image says 151, the same number as on my phone app.

I don't compare my web dashboard to my phone dashboard minutes.  Your comment about the peak minutes is interesting.  I will take a look at my data, but won't repost in this thread except to help another user.  Any discrepancy between the phone app and this tile on the web dashboard is definitely NOT worth trying to get Fitbit to fix it.
