It seems quite odd to me that this app is not available on fitbit sense, while it is one of the best apps available for running. It is the to go app choice for apple watch..

Hi, @hiko , a list of which third party apps that currently work with Fitbit can be found here .
My understanding is that these are “partnerships”, meaning it works both ways so both companies would need to want to work together.
Unfortunately, no one can answer the “when” question. Besides expressing your hopes on Fitbit, it might be worth also getting in touch with Nike to let them know that you are eager to see this collaboration.
Sense, Charge 5, Inspire 2; iOS and Android

I understand that, however I would expect a premium smartwatch with a 329 pricetag to offer a wider variety of apps. The list is still quite limited.

Probs didn’t help that Fitbit partnered with Adidas. Maybe apple has a Nike exclusive.

The answer is ...Never.
The arrangement Nike has with Apple is exclusive to Apple. When it was signed years ago, the Nike + app on my Samsung smartwatch was inactivated.
