When will the Sense ECG app be available in Norway?

Anyone know if Fitbit Sense will get EKG in Norway?

Has Fitbit applied for it in Norway? Is it planned?

I see no reason to purchase Sense if it never gets EKG in Norway, then the Charge is good enough, but if it will get EKG I want the Sense.

Accepted Solutions

As noted in other threads regarding the ECG for other countries, there is no way for anyone to know when a country will approve the use of it. Governments move at a very slow pace when approving new technology.

Yes, but has Fitbit moved forward in getting it approved in Norway?

Hello @DJViking It's great to see you around! @USAF-Larry Thanks for the input!

The Fitbit ECG app on Fitbit Sense is available in certain countries. For the list of countries where the ECG app is available and for answers to frequently asked questions, see fitbit.com/ecg

For additional information, I would recommend taking a look at our blog: blog.fitbit.com/ecg-fitbit-sense/

For now, we currently don't have information if it's been approved in your country, but take into consideration that the ECG app will be available to additional countries in the future, pending regulatory approval.

Keep me posted.

@Harboe Please let me explain that we currently don't have that information and a time frame when the ECG App will be available in your country. I understand how much you'd like to use this feature and I'm sorry for this inconvenience. My best recommendation is to keep an eye to the Help Forums or the Press Release for future updates about this or any other feature availability. I believe the ecg is only capable of telling you if you have afib. If this is what you are looking for then it may be helpful. But I don't findit nymore useful than the free applications I have downloaded to my phone. I am not impressed.

I believe you are correct.  The stated purpose on the Heart Rhythm Assessment Report is:  "A convenient way to detect AFib. (This is not a diagnosis.)
Our proprietary algorithm has been tested in a clinical study. (98.7% sensitivity, 100% specificity)".

Hello everyone. @Notimpressedsof Welcome to the Community Forums! Thanks for your feedback!

The electrical sensors on your Fitbit wrist-worn device detect your heart rhythm. When you use the Fitbit ECG app, your heart rhythm data is analyzed for signs of AFib. Only a doctor can diagnose AFib, but the results of the assessment can let you know if your heart rhythm has signs of the condition.

I’m in the same boat where I would love the feature to be in Canada.   I think Health Canada may have other priorities with this whole pandemic at the moment though.  😆

Samsung has now gotten approval for ECG in UK and Europe. Norway is among the countries getting it.

https://www.engadget.com/samsungs-galaxy-watch-3-ecg-tracking-comes-to-europe-and-the-uk-114516576.h...

So why is it taking so long for Fitbit to do the same?

To Fitbit: Be proactive. Stop waiting for authorities to do something, get it approved. Contact whomever you need to get it approved.

Patience is wearing thin. How difficult can it be to obtain the same permit other smart watch producers have obtained? I have a nagging feeling that the application has not been filed in Norway. Can you please confirm that the application for the ECG has been filed in Norway? If this is not the case I think that the Fitbit Sense marketing is misleading.

It is working!! I don't know for how long it had been there, but I opened the app and, when I clicked my own profile, there was a "Health Assessments" option which I'd never seen. I clicked it and it instructed to open the ECG app in the watch and, to my surprise, it was there!!
