Just got my Sense a few days ago and I can't respond to text messages. The notification only shows the message, the option to open it up on my phone and the option to clear the notification. There is no text icon, voice icon nor emoji icon that I see on all the information pages about this. Can someone help?

I didn’t think one could respond to messages using the Sense. If it’s not in the manual..

Page 41 of the User Guide indicates that you can respond to message on an Android. For clarification purposes, I have an android and my texting app is Textra (if that is relevant).

Yeah, Apple has had issues with all this for several years sadly. No sure what FITBIT has going on lol… Good luck!

Hi there. I am not sure if you have done this yet but you need to specify which program you want the notifications to come from. However, if you are like many of us who have had the Sense from the beginning, you may experience inconsistent performance with the text and call notifications. I have a Samsung Note 9 and also use Textra (fantastic program) and only had it work for a few weeks, but you may have a different outcome. If this procedure doesn't work, I would encourage you to search the threads for text notifications since there are numerous posts available. You should also reply with your phone model and Android version so others can potentially contribute other settings to check.
1a. Make sure battery optimization/saver is disabled for fitbit app. Settings>apps>Fitbit>battery>optimize battery usage=not optimized
1b. Settings>device care>battery>power mode>adaptive power saving=disabled (slide the radio button)
CONFIGURE THE APP
1. Open Fitbit app and click on profile located in the upper left corner of the screen (round circle)
2. Select Sense under the accounts list
3. Scroll down to notifications (sits just below the on-wrist calls setting)
4. Select the setting for Text Messages (tap the word) and select Textra from the list of available software. This area is where you can associate the programs to the other notification options and enable calls. Keep in mind that setting up calls also requires a second setup process in addition to enabling here.
Please reply if this works so that others will know if this solution might work for them too, or to allow others to offer additional options to try. I have been meaning to try to use the default Samsung message app to see if I could get mine to work again since I know several of their companion apps do not support 3rd party apps for SMS/MMS but this would be for a proof of concept exercise since I don't want to stop using Textra. Also, even though I have emails disabled without a program associated to the setting, I still get Gmail notifications that I can't seem to permanently turn off. Hopefully your experience is different with a slightly newer device but the Sense forums are a great place to get help from the community.

Coastalhues,
Problem solved - I searched the forums specifically for "Textra." Apparently it's a setting within the Textra app that allows for reply options. Here is the link - https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Other-Versa-Smartwatches/Quick-replies-not-available-with-Textra/m-p...
Hopefully, this works for you too. I appreciate your insightful and information answer though! 😀

Thank you very much for taking the time to post the instructions for properly setting up Textra. I never thought to search based on the specific messaging app but I am glad you took the initiative to do so. Honestly, after looking at the steps involved I don't think I would have ever stumbled upon the relationship of those settings to our issue with the Sense text response feature. What's odd is that I had it working earlier this year and never made any changes, nor did I see anything from the Textra Bot regarding updates to these settings. Nevertheless, I am grateful for your help in restoring a small piece of functionality to my Sense. Stay well!
