Fitbit can’t even send out watches with the newest software? You make your users update as the first step? 🤦🏻:male_sign:😱😡

I imagine it’s not feasible for Fitbit to unpackaged a watch and update it prior to shipping from their facility. There may be sealed components or packaging involved.
It will have the current software at the time of packaging.
Additionally, if a watch was sitting on the shelf at Target (or some other distributor) for 3 months and there was an upgrade or two, would you expect Target to ship it back and get one with the most recent update?
make sense?

Hi @ColoradoBo - what @Clove6060 says, but you have a good point, it could come with a usable firmware so that it works straight away and make the update step an option that can be applied later.
The last thing a user wants to do is go through a tedious WiFi and update process (that has some difficulties sometimes) when they get a new watch.
Imagine if you had to apply updates to your new car before you could even drive it.

It would be nice to have it turnkey, no question. How would it be done though? Doesn’t the update require certain knowledge of what phone etc you’re using? Cars are not packaged products that require opening to update before shipping to user.
I bought an iOS toothbrush from Oral-B, (not cheap either) that required an update. 👀
