Why is the heart rate sensor so inaccurate on the sense

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I had open-heart surgery on December the 8th, so I decided to buy something to monitor my heart rate while I exercise. The fit bit sense seemed like a great idea. I quickly noticed that the heart rate monitoring is complete garbage.  Doing light exercise on my recumbent bike,  the Fitbit says my heart rate is 146.  BS!   I am still able to carry on a perfect conversation and barely work up a sweat.

The steps measurement is junk also.    It claims I took three steps to walk completely across the room.  This is my first ans last FItBIT.

Sorry @rtieder about the lack of replies but probably you were referring to the moderators rather than the users community that I find very useful and supportive.

Having said this I'm sorry to say that your decision to return it was a good one. A quick search in the Sense section will bring you a huge number of discussions related to the bad accuracy of the sensor (proven by many tests from users) that moderators have been quick to dismiss with explanations ranging from "you're wearing it wrong" to "we are working on a fix but we are not able to provide a date" . Lately those discussion have also been locked and important posts (very interesting from technical point of view) even deleted.

@rtieder As @SunsetRunner said, there's plenty of thread already about the heart rate monitor and issues people have had. Too bad the Sense didn't work out for you.
