I have a nickel allergy. I currently have a Charge 2 (it contains nickel) that I have to take breaks from. I’ll wear it when I’m active but take it off when I’m not. I forget to put it back on sometimes, which defeats the purpose of tracking my fitness in the gamification way that I need.
When will Fitbit truly consider the needs of consumers like me and make a nickel free fitness watch?
I need to buy a new one that I can wear at all times. I considered buying the Sense, but I decided against it since it contains stainless steel. Stainless steel contains nickel. I understand the EU specifications, but my skin is extremely sensitive and any amount of nickel causes an annoying cycle of blistering, infection, (maybe pus in the mix), itching, etc.
TL/DR: I want to give Fitbit my money, but will they make the 100% nickel free product I can buy? Why not test/use surgical grade titanium?

@ChriStyle81 - the best place to post your idea of surgical grade titanium is in the Feature Suggestion forum. There, others may vote on it and the developers can gage interest. If you post, come back here and share the link so others with your same question may vote. On a side note, if you google your question or search it in the Fitbit community, you will see some creative ideas others have tried to avoid contact with the nickel.

I also have an allergy to Nickle, and had enough of a reaction from the Fitbit Sense, that I had to send it back, just couldn't justify not returning it. The area that I was getting a reaction from was from the magnetic charge connectors on the back of the Sense. The main reason that surgical grade titanium doesn't work in this case is that it's not magnetic. I actually did a little bit a research while looking for a new watch (still unfound) and a lot of magnets have nickel in them. So I came up with an idea to have a charge cover that would cover all the magnetic/metal parts so I could still use the Sense.

This is a link to my idea in the Feature suggestions forum, if you think this is a good idea, please vote so that it will hopefully become a reality.

This a problem for me as well, the face doesn’t seem to give me too much of a problem, but the clasp does. I just ordered the loop around one and I’m going to give that a try.
** side note, I use CeraVe cream as a barrier daily, which I think helps tremendously!!

Hi Love - I just got the sense and once I opened it I realized the back had metal and the box says contains nickel, unlike the back of the versa 2 watch I've been wearing with ZERO issues for 2 years straight. I only take it off to shower. I'm highly allergic to nickel, so I'm super upset! I really wanted the sense and thought it was going to be like the versa 2! So I called customer service and they said the Versa 2 and Versa 3 are made the same way still, so maybe you can use those?!??
Sidebar - if you haven't bought anything from Skintifique, you reallllllly must. SAVES. MY. LIFE. It basically means I won't have a rash 24-7 bc you almost CAN'T avoid nickel entirely in life. Doorknobs, random handles... always getting me. But this cream binds to the nickel and is made by a doc with a nickel allergy. Check it out!

I want the sense, just bought it. But I think it will be a no go.... the versa 2 and 3 are made different and have a plastic or glass backing - they have not bothered me and I'm actually allergic and very sensitive to nickel!

My daughter also has nickel allergy issues. I've posted our solution on other forums, and I thought I should post it here too...
I used the zagg invisiblesheild screen protector installed on the back of the watch.
Step 1 of installation is to remove paper backing & align. After this step I marked the 4 holes (used a thin point Sharpie marker) and trimmed the edges where the band connects (it is a bit long otherwise.)
Then I used a hole punch (picked mine up at Walmart, a whole set of them for around $10 - any hardware store should have them)
Here's a pic of hole punches:
Pick the correct size hole punch, set screen protector on a scrap block of wood (or something you don't care about wrecking as it will go through the screen protector & cut into whatever is underneath it), put hole punch on mark and hit with hammer.
Here is a video of someone using a hole punch on leather (start video at 3:53 mark)(In the video he turns his leather piece over & punches it again. You only need to do it from 1 side on the screen protector unless it didn't go all the way through from the 1st hit.)

Then finish the installation instructions for the screen protector. It has lasted on my daughters fitbit sense for over 8 months now with no nickel reaction & the charging ports work just fine with no issues.
Hope this helps!😊
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
