Will the Sense get updates if newer model comes out?

Hi,

i am wondering if the sense will still be updated when a newer model comes out.

I am asking this because I want the Fitbit sense, but I don’t want to pay $400 on the smartwatch then a few months later a newer model comes out and my Fitbit is not supported with OS updates!

So to make things simpler,

will the Fitbit sense be supported when a newer model of the sense comes out?

Thank you.

Hi @ShadowNinja  the answer is yes. It will continue to be supported. Here is a snippet from a help article from Fitbit:

"Here is the scoop on Fitbit’s legacy device policy:

Our devices typically receive software updates for at least two years after the device is last sold on Fitbit.com, but over time it will not run as smoothly as our newer devices. Eventually we must discontinue software updates, support and ability for our devices to pair with the Fitbit app.

Our Customer Support team is always happy to help you with any questions or issues, including our legacy device policies and practices. However, once a device is no longer receiving software updates, our team may no longer be able to provide in-depth support or troubleshooting for your device."

@ShadowNinja Sense is not even supported now that it's the flagship of Fitbit and you're asking for future support when the new model will be out? I think we all know the answer.

The last Sense/Versa 3 firmware update was over 7 months ago (as seen here). Does this sound like a device that is receiving good support to anyone in this thread? Bear in mind there are still major issues with the HR sensor and let's not forget the wildly inaccurate floor count.

So to answer your question honestly @ShadowNinja, and not through the eyes of a Fitbit employee. It's unlikely that the Sense will be supported once the Sense 2 comes out. It receives little to no support during its current "flagship" life cycle (last update October), so we can expect even worse once it's no longer the current flagship.

@--Smeagol--  no one who posted in this thread is a Fitbit employee. I'm part of the Community Council that volunteers to help other members with links and information that can be found on this site. We never know when there is an update coming and the Fitbit blog is one way to keep informed, as are these forums.

Who voted this corporate spiel as the best answer? I’m a sense customer and I’m wholeheartedly disappointed with it and by the lack of the updates and improvements to well documented issues.

@ShadowNinja seems to have provided a much honest answer to the question.

Why perpetuate the illusion of commuted support?
