"Early 2021" is here for a while now. When does Google Assistant come to the rest of the world?

Any word on when Fitbit delivers on their promise to deliver to the rest of the world early 2021?

Does anyone know if that will be a server side switch on their side or if it'll require a FW update?

hi @Deechte ,

hi @R.M,

If you can't wait for the launch, you can activate Google Assistant right now.

Enclosed is a short tutorial with a few screenshots:

  1. In the Fitbit app you have to change your location to United States in the app settings.
  2. Then you have the following selection in the Fitbit app:

  4. Theoretically, Fitbit already shows you that you can start with the setup. However, in order to be able to use the Google Assistant, you also have to modfiy one setting in the the Google App.

  5. To do this, click on More in the bottom right corner of the Google app, then Settings, and then Google Assistant. Scroll down to Languages. Here, the order must be changed so that English (United States) is at the top. If in doubt, select  your default language like German and choose None from the list to remove German.

  7. After that, the setup can be completed in the Fitbit app:

  8. If you still want to control Fitbit via Google Assistant (i.e. request data from Fitbit via voice), a connection must also be established for this:

Done. You can already use Google Assistant in regions where it is not supported today. In English only, of course.

Hi @sancho90 , yes I'm fully aware of that. But I really don't feel like talking English. Sorry, hope it didn't take you much time to write all this down

@Deechte don't worry, maybe this guidance will help other users 😉

Even when Google Assistant will be supported, any time line for verbal replies? Right now only written answers as we had before with Alexa.

Hi, @sancho90,

Thanks for the suggestion - I knew. This is not a solution, but as the Russian saying "crutches (shamanism with drums)", when you need to add something else yourself and when the manufacturer of the product cuts into you. This is Fitbit Sense sells the same everywhere and if it is different then call it another model to make it clear then that it is an incomplete product with other iron components like Fitbit Sense Lite.

I'm willing to wait a few years for Google Assistant to be a good product. I do not want to use a crude product like Chinese helpers. Google Assistant is used by young Internet users. I recently read an article https://softwaretested.com/technology/the-two-sides-of-using-internet-by-a-student/ about the Internet preferences of young users. Voice search and intuitive collections of information are the engines of the modern Internet.

I tried this a couple of times but it does not work for the Netherlands. It said: the language of your region is not yet supported on your Sense.

After a search I learned that you have to change your country in your google account to US. But you can change your country only once a year. So if I do that i'm stuck on the US settings for a year.
