Inspire 2 no longer records the correct time asleep

ANSWERED

Terrible! The changes suck!  My inspire 2 no longer records the correct time asleep. It was fine until the app/ premium subscription was updated. Premium is a useless purchase for me, now. The sleep tracker doesn't correctly work any more

No, I haven't edited my sleep profile in the AP, since this change has come
into play. I'll have to seek out a " help" page. Not sure what would
require editing. I have a goal set for sleep time, with a reminder to get
ready to sleep daily. Not aware of any other setting. Thanks, I ll research
further.

Hello @Laschelfe

To edit your sleep start/end time in the Fitbit app:

  • Tap on the Sleep duration tile on the Today page
  • Tap on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right and select Edit sleep to open the Sleep sessions page
  • Tap on Edit to the right of your sleep session which will open to a page where you can correct your sleep times
  • After correcting the time(s), tap on Save in the upper right
  • Tap on the X and back arrow to get back to the Today page

It used to take a while for the Fitbit app to update my sleep score & sleep stages graph, sometimes an hour or so. After the Sleep section was updated, I noticed that my sleep score & stages graph update much faster.

If there's any other help you'd like, please let us know.

Agree the new sleep tracking chart displays incorrect  if as well as no info such as deep and so on. Example   App showed I slept 8 hrs. Not true. I woke up for one hour at least and fell back asleep for a short time. Did not show the interruption at all like the old app did. Why would I subscribe further to something that in my opinion was a downgrade? Return to old chart the new one is terrible.

Hi. This is going to sound dumb, but what am I correcting my sleep time to? I understand the steps to get to edit the sleep times. Don't know what I'm to change it to?

" Change your sleep times." To what?

Hello @Laschelfe

When you said that your Inspire 2 was no longer recording the correct time that you were asleep, I took this to mean that your sleep log in the Fitbit app didn't have the correct sleep start/wake times. As a result, I provided the instructions on how to make the changes to one's sleep log.

If this wasn't your issue, I apologize for misunderstanding the problem.

It would be helpful for us to understand what you meant by your device wasn't recording the correct time you were asleep.

Hi, thanks for the reply with detailed instructions. Can you please let me know what this specifically means?

  • After correcting the time(s), tap on Save in the upper right

It may seem obvious to most, but I don't have a clue as to WHAT I would be  "correcting my time(s) to. " My understanding is that I set my times with a goal in mind. 10:30 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. daily. At 10:30 p.m. I receive a reminder to wind down and get to bed, with a wake up time at 6: 00a.m. What would I be changing these times to? Thank you for your feedback. It's much appreciated. P.S. I wear my device to bed every nite. Thanks!

Example: I went to bed at 11 p.m. last night. Woke up at 6 a.m. went back to sleep until 9:05 am went back to sleep until 11:30 a.m.  Then got up to begin my day. I would have estimated 11- 12 hrs of sleep.

Fitbit shows I slept from 11:48 pm until 3:15 am.  It shows " other sleep"  as 33 mins from 4:21 - 5:25 a.m. That's all. Shows I slept for a total of 3 hrs 26 mins with a score of 59 - Poor. Again, my times are set at 10:30 pm . Up at 6:00 a.m.

Thanks!!

Hello @Laschelfe

I think I understand your confusion. What I'm suggesting you do is change the times that you actually went to sleep and when you woke/got up to start your day.

It's not about the sleep times/schedule that you set up. The way that I understand it, the schedule you set, 10:30 pm - 6 am, will be used by the Fitbit app algorithm in calculating the first part of your sleep score - Time Asleep. It looks to see if you were within 30 minutes of the schedule you set. So, in your case, if you go to bed/sleep between 10-11pm and get up between 5:30-6:30pm, the app algorithm considers this meeting your set sleep schedule. The second part of the score is if you get the hours of sleep based on the schedule you set. In your case, that's 7 hours & 30 minutes.

In the example you provided, this is what I would do:

  • Delete the "other sleep log", the 33 minute one
  • Change the wake up time on the remaining sleep log so it shows your wake-up time as 11:30 am. When you do this, it should combine all your sleep into a single log/graph.

To delete the short sleep log:

  • Tap on the Sleep tile to open the Sleep page
  • Tap on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right and select Delete Sleep
  • You should see both sleep logs. Tap Delete for the short one. I believe you may need to confirm that you want to delete the log.
  • After you do this, you should see only 1 sleep log

Use the instructions that I provided in my previous post to change the wake up time for the remaining sleep log to 11:30 am. You will need to tap on Save in the upper right of the page. Otherwise, the app won't save the change. After you save the change, the Fitbit app will recalculate your sleep graph and sleep score. It may take a bit of time for the app to do the recalculation. When it does that, you should see a sleep graph that goes from 11:48 pm last night to 11:30 am today, close to 12 hours.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge/experience! Finally, It has become very helpful!! I was totally overthinking the matter!  The first delete and edit I made, I received an error message. But it was due to the prior day already having time recorded. Not sure I clearly explained this. Anyways, I played and played with it, using your simple instructions and I get it. Thank you so much for your patience! I will monitor and edit for the next week or two and then check in with you again!

Thank You!

You are very welcome. I'm glad that you were finally able to figure it out and will be watching for your update. Hopefully, your sleep data will track properly. But, now you know how to edit and fix it.

The app often misses the first few hours of sleep -- only starting in the early AM. The app refuses, despite multiple tries in various ways, to allow a correction to include the late night hours into the record.

Most often it's refusal says "sleep record already exists" when I erased the record or revised it.

VERY FRUSTRATING ! ! !

Best Answer

Yes, just started having the same problem.  It will no longer allow me to edit the time I went to bed, saying that a sleep record already exists for that time.  (Even though no sleep record shows for that time.) I used to be able to make a change where necessary.
