I am primarily purchasing it for sleep tracking purposes. If I acquire a new one, I will receive a premium subscription for a year, and if I use it, I will remain on the free tier. The question is whether the free tier is enough for tracking sleep properly, knowing that the price is three times that of the new one.

@pralad sleep tracking is not a paid feature. You get the same data whether or not you have a Premium subscription. Also, most Fitbits come with a 6-month free Premium trial. The Inspire 2 had a full year, but that's a very old device.
I'm not clear on what device you are considering. There is no Fitbit 3. There are Charge 3, Inspire 3, and Versa 3. These are different product lines with different features and different prices. They are also different ages. For instance, the Charge 3 is an older, obsolete device. I would recommend against buying that, regardless of the price.
