I never go to sleep instantly, I never know how long it takes. I can never be sure. I also don't know when to set my alarms so that I get a full night sleep. Has anybody ever thought of smart watches detecting when you fall asleep (approximately at least), then setting an alarm for 8 hours or whatever, so that you dont oversleep or undersleep?

Actually, Fitbit already detects when you fall asleep based on movement and heart rate, so you can see your estimated sleep onset time in the app the next morning.
What you’re describing sounds like a “smart alarm” that adapts automatically once it detects you’ve fallen asleep and then wakes you after a full cycle (like ~8 hours or during a light sleep phase). Some devices used to offer something similar, but Fitbit currently works more with sleep schedules and smart wake windows rather than dynamically setting the alarm after you fall asleep.
It would be interesting to see that implemented here though - especially for people who don’t fall asleep at a consistent time.
