Tricks/ tips for better sleep?

I take melatonin (liquid) sometimes, and that usually helps me fall asleep, but I am sensitive to it and often feel groggy the next day.

Much more groggy if I take gravol, though (which I don't think should be used for sleeping, anyway).

What are your favourite...getting-ready-to-sleep tricks? 🙂

People are mentioning taking melatonin every night, but I've heard/read you are only supposed to do this temporarily, like for two weeks and then stop. I can't find when you can do the two weeks again - like take a month off or whatever.

Also, I just read we should only take a very small amount of melatonin in those two weeks. We only need 0.3-0.5 milligrams. I've seen bottles with a serving size of 10mg! That's insane!

Side effects of an overdose are dizziness, nausea, reduced ilbido, depression and weird dreams. If any of you taking high doses experience these, try lowering the dosage. You can cut the pills to get a lower dose or take less of the liquid.

I just wanted to share this information that I found for anyone having a problem, potentially developing a problem or anyone about to buy and try melatonin.

None of the homeopathics have an effect on me.

My best strategy is to mindfully let go of the day that just ended. Hanging onto stuff makes me restless. I also keep a notebook next to the bed, and I jot down anything that occurs to me for the following day. Clearing this from my mind usually means I fall asleep in ten minutes, and I rarely have "stress dreams".  Hope that helps.
