Since getting my surge for Christmas in December 2016, I had to get a replacement in April due to the band coming loose and eventually falling off. I got a replacement Surge from Fitbit and have been using it since. About a month ago the band started bubbling and pulling away from the display again. And of course, tonight, it fell off my wrist as the band has come completely off of the display.
I just got off the phone with the call centre and I guess I'm going to be getting a 3rd Surge in less than a year from Fitbit. Of course, there's two options - either replacing the same model, or a 50%-off coupon for a new model altogether. t, I don't feel like giving away any more money to this corporation after such shoddy workmanship on a $400 gift (I'm in Canada).
I guess when the band falls off numero three in a few months (as it no doubt will), I guess I'll be out of luck because the warranty will have run out. I'm really unhappy with the build of this product, Fitbit. It's been great to use and really helpful with tracking my workouts. But I honestly wish my partner hadn't bought one for me, and gone with another brand of fitness tracker altogether, one that has a band built to last.

I sorry it didn't work out for you.
Please do some research before buying something else. Many have this problem. There are also many reasons why.
I had a Garmin but it rubbed against my clothes sleeve Hense breaking down the band. With my fitbits I make sure it is not rubbing. There could be other reasons as well

@kantivenin As I will do with my wife's gift, Amazon and E-bay sell aftermarket bands for the Surge and YouTube has "How to" video's to help the process. If you're interested. Good luck.

That's a short, sad ending to a 250 dollar watch.

Hi, @kantivenin, that is exactly why all recent Fitbit models have replaceable bands, and are attached to the Fitbit in a different way. So if you did decide to use the coupon you can be confident that the band is unlikely to fail in the same way, and if it does fail, the straps are easily replaceable, either using a Fitbit "official" band or any one of many (usually cheaper) after market manufacturers. (Although I have heard reports that the cheaper ones don't last very well.)
If you have the energy to install a replacement band for your Surge, you will also have a back up Fitbit.
Just a thought!

I had my fit bit surge just under 2 years and my band broke as well. I replaced the band and not only did it break again, it doesn't hold a charge. At $250 and a warranty designed to last just until before it breaks.. don't think I'll ever waste money on their product again.

My fit bit band split on the inside. No unusual wear, the band just started splitting. Just poor craftsmanship and design on an overpriced product.

My aftermarket band from Amazon failed within two weeks.. it's just a poor design.
