4yr old Surge, screen swipe sensitivity failing / can't access "Treadmill Run"

Hi all,

I got a FitBit Surge for Christmas 2015. It's now 4 years old (albeit I haven't used it for the last year until this week due to developing a painful skin allergy to it, which seems to have gone away now).

Apart from the typical broken strap, everything seems to be functioning okay, although the sensitivity of swiping the screen seems to be failing notably in 2 parts only:

1.) Swiping LEFT on the sub-menu that has 'Run' 'Exercise' 'Settings'. Much more difficult than swiping right.

2.) Swiping RIGHT on the 'RUN' sub-menu to change from the default of 'Free run' to 'Treadmill run'. No matter how, or how hard I try to swipe left OR right to get to 'Treadmill run', it just won't budge - and as a repeat-beginner to exercise, treadmill runs are pretty much all I do! How frustrating!

It does auto pickup my runs after 10 minutes, but I lose 10 minutes of recording and it often marks them up as 'aerobic exercise', though I can manually amend it to show a Treadmill run, I can't get the lost 10 minutes of recording back.

I've tried draining the battery, using the shut down option, trying a button-reset, and have confirmed I'm on the latest version for which there are no further planned updates I've read.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You can try a restart and see if it helps

But after 4 years my guess is its on its last legs. They dont last forever
