Are these the signs my Surge is about to die?

Does anyone have a clue about the predicted lifespan of a Surge? I am thinking mine is about to die soon. I've had my Surge for just over 2 years. When I first used it, I only had to charge it every 5 days or so. I was always cautious about conserving the battery, so I disabled instant on, notifications, music control, and "always on" almost from day one. I did have 2 daily silent alarms on it though.

Despite those battery saving measures, for about the past 9 months, I have had to charge my Surge daily. In the morning the battery would be showing as almost completely depleted. I would hook it up before going to shower and then retrieve it about 1 hour later, with the battery showing as fully charged. It has become harder and harder to get the cable to stay in the Surge to charge it, though, so I have to fiddle with it for a few minutes before it stays connected. I bought 2 more OEM cables to try, plus a non-OEM cable, and even 3D printed a Surge holder to try to get it to stay connected to charge it.

Even though the battery shows full when I disconnect it, it has on several occasions died before the end of the day. This morning, I got up, and looked at the Surge. It showed the time and then went blank. I connected it and the charging light on my wall plug came on, but the Surge never showed any life, even after I pressed the various buttons while it was charging. So I left it all day. When I got home, the wall plug still showed it was charging. I pressed the home button and it came to life. However, the battery is showing as almost completely depleted despite having been charging for 12 hours.

So does this sound like death throes to you? Is 2 years all I should expect from such a pricey fitness tracker? Should I give up now and switch to a new tracker or wait for it to die completely? Or does anyone have any ideas about how to bring my Surge back from the brink of extinction? I was hoping the Surge electronics would last at least until the strap finally breaks (it has been wearing away for the past year).

Thanks for any advice or guidance.

Also See this thread for charging best practices. If you are not charging it correctly you could be damaging the battery

Mine is 2 1/2 years old and I have to charge it after using GPS. If I dont use GPS it will last only 2 days. I'm sure mine is on its last legs.

thanks Wendy but I have done all the steps you mentioned other than contacting customer service since I got the surge as a gift and have no receipt (no even sure exactly when it was bought and from whom).

Just tell them it was a gift and you dont have a receipt

Its probably out of warranty but then generally offer a discount on a new one
