Auto Backlight not Working

My Surge Auto Backlight has stopped working.  The backlight never comes on, even in a dark room.  This started about a week ago.  Tried various solutions listed on this board and then called Support.  Support said only option is to set it to On but I'd prefer not to do that as I think it will drain the battery faster.  I'm not sure why I got that response as the Auto function should work.  I'd appreciate any advice.

Did you do a restart at least 3 times in a row?

 

If so I would contact support again as doing what they asked seems wrong. Talk to a different rep.

Thanks for your feedback.  I tried doing 4 restarts and that didn't solve the problem.  Will try another round with Support and see if I get other options.
