Took it out of the box, plugged it into my mac and downloaded all the software on my computer. trying to set it up with my computer and it instructs me to hold the home button for three seconds, but when i do this the device just stays on the "configure" screen in all different languages. I had the same problem, Windows 10 was my problem. if you have an android tablet (worked for me) or another type of device (smartphone) try setting it up on that first. It will transfer over to your you PC/Mac after the update. The important thing is to to get the firmware on it. after it initializes, easy breasy. I have no experience with Macs, but assume it may be the same problem. Took me 2 days to get mine up and running about 5 hours of headaches.

edit: oh, disable or uninstall from your PC/Mac before you do this and then re-install.

did you download fitbit connect and update the Surge first. It has to be initialized before you can use it.

https://www.fitbit.com/setup

https://www.fitbit.com/setup?platform=win ->> Use this one, not windows 10 version

https://www.fitbit.com/setup?platform=win10

go to fitbit.com/setup and download fitbit connect. Select your version of windows/mac etc. if not setting up from your mobil.

what worked for me is not downloading the Windows 10 version, but the PC version. My surge stayed on the configuration screen forever until I downloaded the PC version and then it updated.

wait for it to download and run the program and follow instructions.
