Bad luck, or overall inferior product?

I am currently waiting for my 6th Surge to come in the mail and I'm seriously questioning my love/hate relationship with fitbit....

Surge 1- Product tester, awesome experience! Sent back at end of study.

Surge 2- Free watch for doing the study! Awesome, still loving this company. However, the band cracks and separates. Shouldn't a fitness watch be durable and last awhile? Call to find out that it's covered, awesome! They send a new watch...

Surge 3- After 3 months the watch no longer holds a charge. Out of warranty.....shouldn't a watch last more than 3 months? They offer a replacement at 1/2 price... okay, after all the first one was free, but shouldn't these things last awhile? Purchased watch number 4....

Surge 4- 3 month curse. The band on the watch begins to blister, the rubber band separates from the plastic display. What's up? Are these products just crap? Call for a replacement.... Am I going to get some dud replacement again that doesn't hold a charge? Is it to much to ask to just get a decent product that lasts?

Surge 5- Replacement comes, shipping box says product FBR501S product inside FBR501L. Wrong size.... you're kidding me!

Now I'm waiting on a shipping label to send it back, so they can send Surge 6 and I'm left asking, is this normal? I mean I like the watch, but never in my life have I spent so much time and energy just trying to get a product that actually does what it's supposed to! Is anyone else having experiences like this. I'm wondering if this is normal and I should switch brands before wasting anymore time here?

Are you over charging them? They only like 1-2 hours.

Nope, never over night, usually an hour or so every 2-3 days while I shower during my morning routine. Most issues have been with the band. Only my replacement had a battery issue and customer support communicated that the replacements "may" have sat to long in the wharehouse before shipping and that could have been the issue.

I'm on my 3rd (last 2 were warrantied) 1st one would no longer sync, band and battery life, 2nd had battery life only issues within 2 months, 3rd has been good for last 3 months Battery may last 5 days. My overall experience has been positive, the surge was instrumental in helping with much need weight loss (down and steady around 65 lbs.)  I felt that the community and friend support/competition helped me establish and keep my new exercise philosophy. That being said, I would probably not invest in another surge and as most of my friends are seeing the same issues with all of the older trackers, and even one with the Blaze. I don't really feel that I "need" the motivational tools that come with the fitbit anymore, so unless I can get a solid 2 years out of this surge (nothing lasts forever, and the device is subjected to pretty hard use) I would probably move to another vendor. I would miss the fitbit badges and support though. Emujo
