To keep surge easily charged, I setup the charger cable in the bathroom near the shower. I take the surge off for the 10 minutes I shower. This seems to give it enough juice I never have to really charge it otherwise.

My Fitbits are always charging when I'm in the shower, but in another room. The steam and moisture from the shower can get on the Fitbit, so I keep it in the other room. Before I put them back on the wrist, I clean them with an alcohol swab. So far, it's worked well for me.

Good idea. I do that with my Charge HR. Though I keep my charger in the bedstand and sometimes get my 10 minutes charge time while reading in bed. It is just a habit and I never worry about whether it needs a charge.
