Biking and no active minutes?

So, riding a bike outside for 10 miles at 12 mph avg gave me no active minutes?  How's that work? Anyone else with the same issue?  Also only burns 80 some-odd calories?

Thanks for popping by the forums @CHarrell! It's great to see your face around. Your active minutes will be detected depending on the intensity of your activity, in case that you don't know how Active Minutes works, please take a look of this master post that give some tips. Since bike is not a base step activity, your Surge should rely on the Heart Rate information; so we need to see the intensity of your biking and also the duration of high intensity level.

In case that you want to see how intensive your activity was, check the Fitbit.com Dashboard in a computer or in your phone browser. Once you're logged in, click on "Log" > "Activity" > "Choose date and change the view to calories. Robot Very Happy

You will see the time line for the day, your workouts in high intensity level will be shown as green lines and the ones in moderate intensity level will be shown as yellow lines.

Hope this help! Woman LOL

I experience this too. Calories burned is usually a lot less on fitbit than strava. Also my daily bike ride often has a break after 9 minutes when I turn my surge off at the shops then I ride home so I miss out on a ten minute session. Is the heart rate calculation relative to my resting heart rate as that seems bizarrely low at 52bpm ?

Hey there @Linzbfc! Thanks for sharing those details. I would like to know how different are the calories that you're getting from your Fitbit Account compare with your Strava Account. Are you checking single activities or overall stats? Remember check that all your activities are being transfer to your Fitbit Account. Check this information on how Strava and Fitbit connectsSmiley Happy

Resting heart rate measures your heart beats when you are still, and it can be an important indicator of the health of your heart. According to the American Heart Association website, “the average resting heart rate is 60-80 beats per minute; so you're right, yours is way low. “Heart Rate is usually lower for physically fit people.” This is because, “active people often have lower heart rates because their heart muscle is in better condition and doesn’t need to work as hard.” Also, the average resting heart rate rises with age. Your Heart Rate is also affected by different factors. You can also restart your Fitbit Surge, in case that it is a hardware issue too.

Would you mind taking a screenshot of your Bike rides, so I can take a look it them?

I'll be around! Woman Very Happy
