Brand New Surge, Can't Pair (tried reset)

Just got my new Surge in the mail today, and it won't pair. It goes to the setup screen and just scrolls through the multi-language greetings.

 

Yes, I charged it for two hours and tried:

restarting the device

restarting my computer

restarting my phone

restarting bluetooth on my phone

trying through Fitbit Connect on my computer

trying through the Fitbit app on my android phone

disconnecting the power cable while trying

holding it really close to the transmitter/phone

trying to check for updates instead of syncing

 

...among other things. No joy. I get nothing on the phone. If I restart the Surge while the computer is searching for the device, it'll come up with the 4-digit pair code, but as soon as I put that in, it fails with:

 

An error occurred while pairing!

An error occurred while pairing your tracker, please try again

 

So, is this just another dead Surge? Am I going to be exchanging for another dead Surge?

Tried all of the above as well.

@RyGuyZA@ErisGriffon I would contact Customer Support. If they can't help you (and since the Surge has been discontinued) I'd return it for a refund. Good luck.
